Cool evil, what you describe is already possible or present. Buttons change on mouseover - just the change is very subtle. Look and you'll see They also make sounds when clicked.

Great! Once you are confident working with this, get in touch with someone, probably Mist (cycholka on irc) or Yogi Bear (YougiHH, jhinrichs) or some other dev working on windows and maybe this could make it into releases yet...

Windows shortcuts are shell stuff, just files.

NTFS can do hardlinks and all, and with Vista these features are "complete", although some worked even before if you knew how to activate them...

1) Quietus - basically Vista redirects these forbidden operations to someplace in user profile folder. That means, if you can't write to wesnoth/userdata, it writes to somewhere ???. Best way to find where and how is search this forum for "Vista" with author "VS" since I already ...

I can't remember offhand, but probably only the common ones - os, shutil, re, sys and such.

I can't speak for other translators, but personally I use svn and Python a lot while working on Wesnoth. On the other hand, there is not much need for such CD to include all development tools...

Isn't this already partially done? There is this "allow sending statistics" option (envelope button on main screen), and if you tried looking at the page it mentions, there is quite some information...

Will any binaries be released soon? You don't want to ask. Some people get easily annoyed by this question. Unsurprisingly, these are the ones who provide binaries. Why? They have been around for some years and every time a new version comes out, lots of the impatient start spamming along the lines...

I just wish npp had some system that could be used for easy distribution of language definitions... because that is the reason I gave up on this. Having to manually merge files is just awkward.

Just making sure - you mean an external preprocessor? WML does have a built-in preprocessor, so there might be a slight confusion. Prepare yourself for some fierce opposition from these who won't read it all, only "preprocessor" and "python or Lisp"
