Re: Nightmares
Haha reminds me alot of Silent Hill the games and the movie. Nicely done and they're quite disturbing/freaky too
EDIT: Although I think the differences between the level 1,2 and 3s of each line of troops seem to be too subtle.

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
*Sigh* You guys are probably right. I think I'm really going to have to make the necessary preparations to test my units. But then again... It'd be an awful waste to just leave all that algebraic expression lying around. I'm gonna try and perfect it for fun and curiosity. Who knows? There might come...

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
Alright, all I can say is, if I'm going all out on this, this is going to take alot of work. What I've presented so far is the very first prototype formula. It's not the final thing. That is, assuming I'm going all out on this. I think I'm only going to go part time on this.

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
You're not getting the point. I'm forming a formula not to test whether the factions in a scenario would stand an equal chance in winning. I am forming an equation as a tool to determine whether two units, or by extension, whether two factions could make a stalemate on an average environment. The ga...

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
So far my current prototype algebraic formula is only taking into account unit abilities such as movement, healthpoints, attack damage and number of attacks all the way down to movement costs on terrain as well as defense percentage on each type of terrain . ... Anyway, hopefully there might be a w...

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
If have to disagree a bit with some here. Is it possible to come up with a math. formula to balancing? I do not see why not, at least not from a theoretical standpoint. The sheer complexity of the problem if a scenario is balanced with everything taking into account, we can safely say: it not possi...

Re: Help me with this variable problem before I hang myself
Thanks for supporting me. Chances are though, from where I come from, I might be the only person who knows about Wesnoth, or maybe there'd only be a few dozen or hundred? I don't know. I live in Singapore by the way. Few people would know about this. So far, I've only introduced the game to like......

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
Balancing a game isn't like physics. In physics you are trying to describe how things act by getting the numbers you have to match the other numbers you have. Balancing a game isn't about making things equal, it's not about making the two sides match up. It's about making sure that neither side is ...

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
I'd strongly suggest that you abandon trying to do this mathmatically, and instead do it in a far more reliable way. Which is repeated testing. Since this is a campaign your units do not have to be balanced like a multiplayer faction. All you need to do is make it so that the campaign is as difficu...

Re: Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
There really isn't Balance depends on more than just units. It depends on maps, and it depends on how the units are used, and what units they are facing. Factions are not balanced in isolation, they are balanced in relation to the rest of the MP era or campaign. A faction that is balanced in a camp...

Algebraic solution towards unit and faction balancing?
I don't know where to put this up as there's no questions section in the open development forums section so I might as well ask about this right here: Is there any mathematical formula for use in balancing factions and units? I'm having a really hard time deciding whether my units are balanced or no...

Re: Guardian Order
Some happy stuff to to report. First off, I'm currently almost done with the coding for scenario 3 and I've more or less finished mapping for scenario 4 and I'm starting to code for scenario 4. More artwork is being produced. Head over to the Wesnoth arts section to check them out. Bad news is, I've...

Re: Guardian Order Texts Thread
Are you just showing this or looking for opinions? You havn't mentioned it so I assume you aren't but I'll ask anyway :) Oh, sorry. I'm not exactly asking for anything but critiques would be nice, constructive ones at that. I guess I need help to spot if there's any clashes with current Wesnothian ...

Re: Guardian Order Art Thread
The legs are mismatched for a perfectly logical reason I'm hoping. The chest's cross is too... straight. It doesn't imply any puffed-out ness like in a normal human chest. The cross's perfectly straight lines make it look a bit flat, like someone taped a piece of cardboard painted with a white and ...
