Ah.. Good times, good times.
You're probably better off playing LoW. BtS was never intended to be anything special. And LoW basically is similar.

Re: What Operating System do You Use?
I'm kind of hating that I upgraded. Any specific reason? I'm asking because I've been thinking about upgrading, but they don't offer physical disks anymore... it has to be downloaded (which is hard for those of us with an average of 32kb per sec download speed). :annoyed: And I really don't want to...

Re: What Operating System do You Use?
Mac OS 10.7.1. I'm kind of hating that I upgraded. Though some of the new features are nice.
And I have a laptop somewhere around here that runs Ubuntu 10.10.

Re: Help request for Siege of Elensefar
Horsemen should NEVER attack melee units. Unless it's the only unit left in an area and if the horseman can easily survive if the enemy hits him with all their strikes. They should only attack support units. Once you get Knights, then they may be able to attack certain melee units. Also, protip, nev...

Try to keep as many as you can. The later levels in LoW can be a pain.

Re: Heir to the Throne: Portraits
Li'sar was the only light infantry leader in the game. Combined with her use of fencers in the ambush in the first scenario she appears in, it always associated her with that line to me, and that association was a characterful one. It was an interesting distinction from Konrad and from the human ca...

Re: Help request for Siege of Elensefar
A tactical idea: IMO most people make the mistake of making a defensive line at the river. It might seem to make sense at first since the orcs have 20% defense in water, but actually one's going to suffer for it. Elves in general have very few hitpoints, and 40% defense on flat is not going to help ...

Re: Goblin Spearman Run Cycle
.. and you say this right after artisticdude made a beautiful rendition of the run animation? The world these days..
No, seriously. That was very unthoughtful/unsensitive of you.
I'd say artisticdude did a fantastic job with this little guy. The running brings him to life somehow for me.

Re: Lat stand of the elves (LoW)
Depends on difficulty. Usually I send most of my experienced units south into the castle along with Kalenz. Form a good defensive line with the trolls until swarms of orcs arrive to reinforce the trolls. Then break out and take out the leader. I usually order the green leader to move to the castle a...

Re: Siege of Elensefar replay
As it always is: Generally it is inadvisable to rush a fortified position, unless you are either incomparably stronger, or you are willing to take heavy losses and possibly be pushed back. Unless you have a specific plan in mind, don't do it. I did not see the replay. But I can say this: if you save...

Re: Strategies?
The one time I'd rather use terrain for cover is when I'm playing with level one elves. Those buggers have such little hitpoints that they're almost literally eaten up on bad terrain. Especially archers and shamans: always keep them on forest tiles unless the enemy cannot reach them. When they level...
