Re: Campaign story idea: The Northern Alliance vs. Wesnoth.
I dislike that the timeline has the orcs completely leaving the NA. It feels like a contrived attempt to return to the "orcs as enemies" status quo and removes one of the most interesting things about the NA- that it includes a group of creatures who are normally enemies of humans/dwarves/...

Re: Campaign story idea: The Northern Alliance vs. Wesnoth.
I actually thought about having a common enemy be the thing that brings about a truce. But it seems a bit silly/implausible.
Given what you said about it happening later and "inner turmoil", maybe the Second Wesnothian civil war described in the time line?

Re: Campaign story idea: The Northern Alliance vs. Wesnoth.
What conflict could they have? They're geographically pretty separated, and neither seems likely to want to conquer each other's territory. Possibly the NR could join in on a rebellion against a current rulership of Wesnoth (for example, if it had existed by the time of HttT, they could have suppor...

Campaign story idea: The Northern Alliance vs. Wesnoth.
This is just an idea right now, though on the off-chance that someone wants to borrow it and do something good with it, feel free. Apologies if someone else thought of this first, but as far as I recall, I'm the first to post something like this. Anyway, what if the Northern Alliance and the Kingdom...

Re: Campaign idea: Li'sar's adventures
There's a lot of ways you could do it, but yes, I think it would be great to develop Li'sar into a more interesting character. I was planning to play through all the mainline campaigns in chronological order starting with Rise of Wesnoth, but because of this thread, I'm thinking of putting that on h...

Re: Campaign idea: Li'sar's adventures
I'd like to see is Li'sar really screw up early on and learn from the disaster. She is really young in Heir to the Throne. Still a teenager or barely past her teens, right? She'd be relatively inexperienced. Maybe on one of her early missions, Li'sar overconfidently leads a force to defeat and gets ...

Re: Campaign idea: Li'sar's adventures
Of course she values her daughter but I meant that maybe Asheviere deliberately manipulated Li'sar to make her daughter view her as more loving parent than Asheviere actually was... It would make sense politically for her to do so, presuming she did not genuinely love Li'sar. Damn, now I can't get ...

Re: Flags/emblems in Battle for Wesnoth.
Interesting. I wonder what Wesnoth would have used before the Sceptre of Fire. Perhaps whatever Haldric's coat of arms was. Or something symbolizing both the Wesfolk and Haldric's people. Personally I think that a phoenix might make a fine symbol for the Northern Alliance (aside from the fact that I...

Re: Campaign idea: Li'sar's adventures
Wow, thank you for your detailed response! Actually, about Li'sar's loyalty to her mother... I thought: could Li'sar really love her mother who presented herself as a loving and caring parent? I think its very possible Li'sar loves her mother. Asheveire's her mother. And they are the only relatives...

Flags/emblems in Battle for Wesnoth.
Just something that occurred to me. Are their any official flags/emblems/coats of arms/etc. for any of the factions/nobles in the game? If not, I can think of at least a couple of possibilities: 1. Wesnoth's world doesn't use them much, if at all, for whatever reason. Its a different world with uniq...

Re: Campaign idea: Li'sar's adventures
(Okay, this is my first post here, and I hope I'm posting it to right forum...) Well, I'd say it probably is, but I'm hardly the person to say. So, where to begin... It seemed like princess Li'sar was intended to be one of the HttT's main characters, but in the original campaign she, in my opinion,...

Re: The politic of the Great Continent
The Timeline of Wesnoth refers to later individuals as Lord Protector of the Northern Alliance, so the position of a single leader appears to have survived Tallin's death. However, I like the idea of a council of leaders of various factions (with each faction presumably picking their own leader in t...

Re: The politic of the Great Continent
Apologies for posting in a somewhat old topic, but this is a subject that intrigues me. If I'd been around here more recently I might have noticed this sooner. I think the OP is half-right when it comes to Wesnoth. They do have a monarch and nobles, but the structure seems to be less purely feudal a...

Necrophages don't make me very worried. But giant Spiders and Ancient Liches are terrible.

Re: When should I recruit bowmen instead of spearmen?
Use bowmen if you're fighting melee units that aren't resistant to them like skeletons are and you can't afford mages.
