I just found the New Settlers Mappack (unrelated to the other New Land addons!)
There is e.g. a big map of Europe included, among others.

About the map which you posted, I tried to port it with wmllint-1.4, but no luck.

I uploaded recently an Era (for testing only) and it's now in the unit tree - but other, already existing, eras did not get updated there.

If you have an utils/ folder, you can delete that too.
And in the settings you can choose .bz2 as compression for the savegames (If you didn't already).

Save files are in ~/.local/share/wesnoth/1.XY/saves You can copy them. If you have bad Luck, it can happen that you load a save but the campaign has received changes.
