Re: How much bandwidth wesnoth use?
Last time I checked it was mere kilobytes, so no problem I guess  May you tell me how did you check? Since I dont know how to test it myself. I've never bothered to measure it precisely. However, Wesnoth only uses bandwidth when updating addons or connected to a multiplayer server, and I assu...

Re: [interface] Recruit via doubleclick
It isn't. Fortunately, OSes make a habit of doing this for you (or at least providing the ability to distinguish them fairly easily). Which doesn't help much, since as a portable program Wesnoth can't really rely on OS-specific services. And, having used SDL myself, I happen to know that it has no ...

Re: Choice of Defense
For sp, I don't really see why I shouldn't be able to be 'bothered' by a defense popup. Every difference between single- and multiplayer adds to the complexity of the game's implementation. One of Wesnoth's design principles is to keep things simple, so if something would be a positive for single-p...

Re: [interface] Recruit via doubleclick
It seems like it would potentially conflict with nearly everything else (eg "move unit here"), since it's probably not trivial to distinguish double-click from single-click. It isn't. Fortunately, OSes make a habit of doing this for you (or at least providing the ability to distinguish th...

No, I'd just advise you not to put that on a single map at all, because it simply doesn't fit.MetalKing wrote:The Map I work with a complete Map of the Wesnoth-Map you can see when the Game started in the Main-Menu. Do you advice me I should map that on 40x40 Map?

Re: [mainline]/[UMC] Appointing/Recruiting Leaders
Lo, I am enlightened, and I see clearly! You don't like the Map I'm working at due to it's Size is to large and that moves me close the "Term" Ned. Is that the Point? i smell something in the air... :eng: My initial comment was just honest puzzlement at the way you phrased it. But a 200x1...

Re: Can anyone give me some good village grabbing strategies
You mentioned fighters futilely attacking skeletons. I think I over recruited fighters and possibly even shamans. I thought that I couldn't recruit too many mages because I then wouldn't be able to screen them properly. Apparently, I didn't recruit enough mages to get rid of the skeletons properly....

Hmm, interesting. I haven't tried this, but I assume you're referring to {userdata}/preferences (no extension).Ravana wrote:Preferences, for versions 1.8.6 and 1.10.3 and 1.11.0 it is line 7, not sure about other versions.

Re: Can anyone give me some good village grabbing strategies
Well, to begin with, if you're playing on an unfamiliar map, you should examine it before starting. There was no shroud, so that shouldn't have been a problem. This map is one of the largest mainline 2p, so lots and lots of elvish scouts would probably have been justified; your initial combat perfor...

Re: noautosaves in preferences
I don't think there is any such line. That's a feature that hasn't been added yet.Yomar wrote:Wich line should i ad in the game to make appear the "noautosaves" option in the preferences => advanced menu ?
So that I can enable or disable it permanently before starting the game ?

Re: village support?
What happens when there are units with different levels? Essentially the same thing that has always happened. Unit levels are added together, and total village support is subtracted from that. Suppose you have village_support set to 2, village_gold set to 1, income at the default of 2, 3 villages, ...

Re: Choice of Defense
So if I'd want my melee-killer to blow away on melee-attacks and to slow on ranged attacks, I'd choose setting...? (I don't mean to obfuscate things, playing sxc that's actually plausible.) The only way that could happen is if you have a significant choice on both melee and ranged that needs to be ...

Re: [mainline]/[UMC] Appointing/Recruiting Leaders
Don't you know Ned? It's the Wesnothian's term for the invisible guardian of random maps. More of a presence than a person, to be precise. He is actually a bit of annoyance, to be honest. Ned is often blamed for lumping huge amounts of contigous terrain together or extending the boundaries of a map...

Re: [mainline]/[UMC] Appointing/Recruiting Leaders
I like a growing Approach like if a Player rules another Town or Land etc. than he have reasonable Ned for another Recruiter due to the larger Distance on the Map I'm working with. What would that even mean? Are you talking within the context of a particular UMC, or are you just using unusual terms...

Re: Choice of Defense
The most relevant cases in mainline are elvish shaman level-ups with multiple ranged attacks of which one is slowing, probably in future Arif level-ups in melee, with one slowing attack as well, and the rarer cases were you would prefer not to kill an enemy in retaliation (i.e. choose the lower ctk...
