You should be careful about using the "fps" acronym. FPS stands for "First Person Shooter" (the genre), while fps stands for frames-per-second/frame-rate (the technical term which is god). AFAIK, the current version of Wesnoth uses OpenGL to render the sprites. That enables 3D ha...

No, but what about using the same 2D graphics and render everything 2D but using 3D acceleration? Supertux does that.

On GNU licensing and such

Well, since there are developers around here, I guess they know more about legal issues with software than me. I started to develop a 2D sidescrolling game engine in C++, for learning, for "having fun", and to accomplish certain goals certain people are aware of. I'm currently writing the ...

Well, IMHO this would only do well for custom campaings and such, not for mainline . And it can easily be done with WML as someone stated above. However, in any case, I think it should be applied only to certain units, i.e. generals, dragoons, etc. Summary: this can be done currently but it will nev...

Perhaps because there are more important things to implement in the engine, such as the new terrain system (which is now implemented, I mean, back then...), or because nobody is willing to implement polemic features in the game.

I guess you're not the only one who can make those graphics; I mean, they are not unique by being frankensteinations.

I've noticed that big saved games are mostly composed of replay info, statistics of earlier scenarios and such. Perhaps there should be a "release statistics" button in the save a game dialog.

He's talking about Fallen Lich Point, and how much money he should have got in Clearwater Port, all this in The Rise of Wesnoth campaing. I don't know, I always defeat all orcs in Clearwater to get some additional money. Then, I recruit an army of mages (L1, L2 reds and L2 whites) to defeat the unde...

just because it's a recolor doesn't mean it's not useful... the best part is that they are graphics that aren't being used anymore, what with the new mages, and so if they could be sucked off into a different direction, and made into worthwhile units[...] Like the 1.0.2 Elves graphics, recolored an...

What about (wesnoth install folder)\Username ? (instead of userdata; taking Username from the %USER% environment variable present in NT-based systems such as 2000 and XP; for 95/98 it could use userdata; multiple user accounts are not handled well by those systems anyway).

Neither can I.

This reminds me something: why not have an additional phpBB style based on the current Wesnoth widgets (used in-game), instead of the plain subsilver theme?

I've seen its source code file present in the distributions since 1.0.2 approximately. Always wondered what it was.
