Re: LordBob's commissionned work
I think it's the beard... it's a very feminine beard. :P No seriously, I have no trouble reading him as male. I think the impression of femininity might come from his ribcage being fairly prominent, due to the arched back. I'm not terribly knowledgeable in this area, so this may not help much, but p...

Hazarding a guess, perhaps you only have only the runtime libraries installed?8680 wrote:I already have 1.10 installed via the Software Center, so I think I should have the dependencies, but SCons says I’m missing Boost.IOStreams, and CMake says I’m missing SDL:

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
Is she supposed to have fangs? In my version, yes, but I wasn't sure of shadowmaster's intention for her face. Also, the pose of the legs looks slightly...suggestive. Maybe, but I'm not really worried about that. *shrug* I think it's appropriate given that she's floating above the ground and would ...

I have other units I should be working on, but meh.

Re: rhyging5 animation comission - trolls
I've got two principle concerns with the revision so far: the palette and the pose. The new version seems to use a much flatter palette with less hue and saturation shifts, compared to the palette on the old sprite. This isn't necessarily a bad thing given that the material is supposed to be stone, ...

Re: Polar Fauna
 Dat squirrel... I swear, something about it really reminds me of a certain relative of mine, eerily enough (a distant relative, thankfully!). Its left (our right) foot seems like it should be slightly more horizontal... i.e., not at the exact same angle as its other foot. As for that little ...

Re: vultraz's art
Yeah, exactly what Alarantalara said. I'm afraid extrude filters won't really fit the task here (although depending on the level of customization settings the filter provides, you might eventually manage to get something that works). You can use filters to get the general idea of a shape, but in the...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
I am the one to blame for hijacking artisticdude's thread. I have written already what made me to give some contributions here: I liked the original approach and design and I felt I could add something useful quickly. Artisticdudes art was a big improvement over the old sprites. Perhaps it was a bi...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
About the heads, well, they have hair to make eighties pop stars envious, maybe that's why it looks off? :P Haha, er, yeah... I might have gotten a bit carried away there. I'd say the arms of the lvl 0 and 1 could use some lengthening, upper arms should generally have length enough to let...

Re: artisticdude's Art
For better or worse, here's an edit I did. :hmm: :o Actually, I really like what you did there. Except for the spear, which looks a bit blunter than before (it may actually be best to keep the original spearhead). I agree that nixing the metal plates around the waist is a good idea, especially give...

Re: artisticdude's Art
Thanks. :) The current spearman baseframe really could use a makeover (this was actually the product of a clean-up effort on my part) to better match the rest of Sleepwalker/Jetrel's new loyalists. Sadly, all the spearman's animations are based on the current baseframe, so revamping the unit's graph...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
I really think that kind of effect belongs in a separate halo (possibly animated) rather than the baseframe itself, but that might be mostly because that used to be Jetrel’s opinion too; it has been a really long time, and I don’t know whether mainline conventions have changed in that regard. But m...

Re: Unit sprites for After the Storm
Curse that decidedly ambiguous Wesnoth perspective... still not happy with the Zephyr's wings, but until I can come up with a better fix here's my best result so far. Also, I don't know what that little demon up at the top is doing there, as he has no place in the ATS demon lineup, but I'm including...

Re: Imperial Era Art Project (Sprite Artists Wanted!)
It looks a bit like he's leaning backwards too far for comfort. I think it's partially a side effect of the head being rather small in relation to his body, but I'd also make the waist/hips a bit broader and emphasize the position of the legs via the shape of the robe. That being said, it's a very c...
