Re: Campaign art - Descent into Darkness
Just a thumbs up! Both iterations of Malin look great! I can't wait to see how his lich version will turn out!

Re: The new Wesnoth logo and the Loyalist sigil
On the one hand a completely book style rendered logo would look awesome, fit on the map perfectly and would make us very distinctly different from similar games. That are big pros! But on the other hand I'm very worried to read that we then would use three (!) different renditions of our mark - the...

Re: Kitty's random stuff: The South Guard
Oh my, it's been two months since my last post in this thread… Feels like forever since I painted something for wesnoth but I finally found some time to start finalizing the lines and starting to shade these guys. So here are neutral and mad Deoran. Again, I'm unfortunately not sure how quickly I'l ...

Re: Interesting medieval font
With 'free', we mean open source, not gratis. Thanks, but I'm well aware that free as in no cost, is differnt from free/libre... ;) My question rather was how a freeware font (and there are a great many of different freeware licenses around) can "become" suitable for us but how a commeric...

Re: The new Wesnoth logo and the Loyalist sigil
Hmm. I'd like to discuss the choice of the typeface itself before we get deeply in the rendering style. As I already stated in the thread in the Art Dev Form, I do not belief in choosing a font based on taste, again I would like to recommend to first think about the things we want to achieve visuall...

Re: Interesting medieval font
While I truly wish we'd find a font in the spirit of the GPL, I find it highly unlikely. And I'm glad that you will take care of the legal issues once we have found some suitable options, Noy. What I don't understand is how a free font (what kind of "free" license that may have…) can be tu...

Re: Dutch Image Localization
Just in order to see if it really looks like my Monotype Corsiva, could you set a few of the problematic words in big and small (72 and 14 pt) and post it? As I said, I don't really have an idea what the problem could be, perhaps some rendering issue in small sizes?

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Wow, the latest Rithandil looks truly wose-like! And the uncropped versions in zookeeper's quick tests look massive and great! Only tiny comments; the part of the trunk behind his beard could use some darkening to differentiate the face and the rest of the trunk a little bit more. And the bird in th...

Re: The new Wesnoth logo and the Loyalist sigil
I won't bother editing the inkscape file of the letterhead if Groovy will provide one with the new logo anyway. Thus only four quick remarks: The tiny hilts make the swords difficult to read. And the way they are cut off by the shield should follow the shield's shape instead of the perfectly straigh...

Re: Campaign art - Descent into Darkness
So much new stuff! The new flats for Malin_Lich, Dela and Reval all look fine to me. The shaded Young Malin looks great as well. I love the idea with the lazy eye, it adds a lot of story! And the sparkles are fun! I'm not sure if I'm reading the hand holding the book correctly, I don't get the way t...

Re: Dutch Image Localization
Hmm. That's really, really strange - but Monotype Corsiva's built in kerning is way better. Look at this totally unaltered screenshot: grij.png G-r, i-j and o-u are not a problem at all… I don't really have an idea what kind of settings you could have wrong at your computer. But you wether need to g...

Re: Campaign art - Descent into Darkness
I want a pet rat, too! (And my cats totally approve of that idea…) Seriously, I really like that Darken feels more like a shabby merchant than an evil necromancer. Malin could really fall for his manipulations. And of course I like that you referenced my worn out cloak. Experienced Malin looks prett...

Re: Ancient Lich Development
Great to see you taking this guy further! Very evil! Personally, I don't have a big problem with the exaggerated proportions, but I've also got a problem with his right arm. The way the bracer overlaps the elbow joint and the edge of the armor exactly touches the joint makes the spatial relationship...

Re: Campaign art - The Rise of Wesnoth
Wow! Jevyan turned out just great! I was a bit worried about his chaotic structure and if things would read clear enough but you pushed everything apart from the focal points nicely back! And the glowy sphere effect is awesome! The wose guy is starting to look great as well! Always interesting to se...

Re: Interesting medieval font
I'd have to back up LB on this issue. It's not only that our current effect works well on the inlay style letters - it's also that inlay style letters work well on top of the shield. I can't imagine a way to render all those scripture fonts in a way that would feel right to put on top of a shield as...
