Back on topic (sort of): We have so many colours associated with magic of different kinds. But there's a linguistic phenomenon which helps to explain some of this development. If a language has, or is forced to choose, two colour words, you will get the equivalent of 'dark/light' or 'black/white'. T...

1) is good but too difficult - needs time most of us don't have. If people had the time, they would also have the time to beat the system. So it's worthless :) Same thing for 2)... Yes, it takes more time to put the stuff in than for a bunch of dedicated gamers to break... :) Ideally, if you genera...

The question you will always end up asking is: would the one-shot chance of killing the enemy be worth the ability to deal consistent damage? One part of the answer is that in a do or die situation against a foe that can't be killed in one round by other units, the one-shot would always be more impo...

I don't think you need a swarm bonus simply because if you can already churn out masses of zero-upkeep cheap units, that should be bonus enough. Of course, if L0 units become more expensive, then this swarm strategy becomes less useful. Remember also that an L0 unit can occupy villages and exert ZOC...

1) is just a sneaky way of getting 'true' ranged units. If such a unit can move n hexes after firing on an adjacent unit, it has an effective range of n hexes, which is something I thought was un-Wesnothish. this isn't exactly true, since Zone of Control rules still apply, and even if you also give...

Lu: I think that you've raised a lot of good points here, some of which we've discussed elsewhere. I like your focus on two things: more weapon-based options for dwarves and more types of units. But I also think that dwarves are basically an infantry-based force - a Knalgan alliance might give them ...

Your real problem is that people who already know the campaign have an advantage in long-term strategy. This is true, for example it is explicit with the choice between IotD/MMP... I was wondering about this problem, so these are some thoughts about possible solutions: 1) more branches - hard to im...

The only trait that matters is loyal, cause at high level this significantly reduces your upkeep cost. The onlt trait that matters is intelligent, cause your unit will get to high level faster. The only trait that matters is... Paying attention to traits is certainly not a necessity, however to rea...

I think the main point is that scenario tactics and campign strategy are two different animals. It is possible to win individual scenarios using purely tactical skills. However, campaigns don't provide a good test of strategic skills simply because a player can't possibly evaluate the relative stren...

nobody wants to reply to this seriously... If we do that, our answers will all be the same  I seriously doubt it. ;) But here's my two cents' worth: I think that from the questions asked, the interviewer is more interested in open source phenomena than in Wesnoth. Wesnoth just happens to be o...
