I was stuck on that too. Just fight some orcs out in the snow (random encounters, just wander around a little), and that will give you the gold you need. BfW 1.1.15 , normal diff. The second scenario, where you get archers is unbalanced. I came to fight with 200 gold against 2 enemies with 150 gold each and them having lawful units while there is no night on the map. How can you win without abusing S/L button?

Instead its put in the general pool of experience gained by player's units from where he can donate an amount to advance any unit to the next level. You don't automatically become powerful just by being able to live long. A fresh Lich might have 50 years of human live before, or even less, looking at some campaigns. Oh, by the way I think that things like Liches that may live for hundreds of years should also be much more powerful than most human mage. If I recall correcty I once saw a thread discussing about whether they should be an advancement of Necromancr or another 3 lvl.

My main reason has little to do with gameplay issues. It's just that I feel that all same level units must be equally powerful . Does the Great Mage seem to you a viable alternative of having an Ancient Lich at your side? Of course we could upgrade him a little ( or more than a little ) to be trull...
