Re: Ambush? I think I don't get it.
I for one would be already happy if the name was changed to "Stealth" or some such. Easy, no balancing or code changes required. As Tad_Carlucci already mentioned, the corresponding abilities for undead or fugitives have fitting names. The "misleading advertising" issue is only ...

Re: Ambush? I think I don't get it.
What is the right way to use units who have one of the "Ambush" abilities (forest, village, darkness, whatever)? AFAIK an ambush is the fact to hide somewhere, and when the unsuspecting enemy gets near, jump out and attack him by surprise. In BfW apparently "Ambush" means a unit...

Re: Official Steam Greenlight discussion thread
I believe there may be ways around this. For example, isolating that code into a separate "plugin" that can (if present) be dynamically loaded at startup might be feasible under GPL 2.0. If you manage to find a way, it would be extremely welcome for all open-source games on Steam :) I'm r...

Re: Official Steam Greenlight discussion thread
We currently don't have plans to use the Workshop or add Achievements or Trading Cards, but that might change in the future. :) How would you add Achievements? That requires mixing Steam's proprietary code with Wesnoth's, which isn't feasible under the GPL 2.0. Trading Cards are possible though, as...

Re: Northern Alliance - where can I read more?
To put it bluntly, there are some gameplay issues about NR.(especially a certain couple with unreal powers XD) But, the story is epic no doubt about that. To me it was the other way around... I thought it had alright gameplay, but I didn't like the story much. Tallin is way too much of a Mary Sue c...

Re: Battle for Wesnoth on Steam
Maybe it is possible to offer more than one >Game in the Steam-Library"<. Means, if you "buy" Wesnoth on Steam, you get three versions added into your library, which are always the last three branches of Wesnoth. That is not possible. After being accepted through Greenlight, Wesnoth ...

Re: License question
I think artists generally prefer ND for art in the style Argentum Age uses, but I am happy to listen to both feedback of artists working on it as well as people who might want to reuse the art for one reason or another. Regarding NC (rather than ND), there was a worrying ruling regarding it a while...

Re: Question about Battle for Wesnoth art use
Hello! Please let me ask a question about Wesnoth licensing. I have an android game that is currently under development which uses a lot of Battle for Wesnoth images. The game is a strategy RPG with auto combat and a text adventure mode. The game mechanics and the story have nothing to do with Batt...

Re: Battle for Wesnoth on Steam
Achievements would require code changes to trigger the achievements. Steam game matching for multiplayer would require code changes. For legal reasons, unfortunately those are not possible. To implement those things it would be necessary to use Steam's proprietary libraries when building Wesnoth, w...

You mean my proposition or the reason I recalled for the rating feature not being implemented? If the latter, then I likely misremembered it.fabi wrote: I have been involved into the discussion around that topic a lot and this argument is new to me.

Re: New Campaigns?
a rating system for add-on is out of question for policy reasons IIRC that's because the developers are wary of the potential toxicity of people giving a 1/5 rating for add-ons and such. But that seems easily solvable by simply allowing people to "Like" and add-on instead, with no corresp...

Re: Amorphous's Pixel Art
Finished this guy not too long ago. Just want to reiterate thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on him! It's probably one of the dumbest, most convoluted and long sprite projects ever for such a small size, but I learned a ton, so it was worth it (I think). http://i.imgur.com/kF1i0z8.png Might p...

Re: Wesnoth MMO ideas ( part 1 )
A drag-and-drop inventory system is impossible with the current GUI implementation used in wesnoth. It is possible to create an inventory like in Skyrim, though. We have experimented with making a MMORPG add-on for wesnoth. It has 7 character classes (multiclassing possible), 3 races (orc human elf...
