Elvish Pillager wrote:I'd suggested giving the Gryphon Rider a 12-1 blade marksman ranged attack and 46 HP, any comments?
This sounds like a rider with a cavalry sabre - if piercing, would be a lance. How about a charge attack? I mean, if this is going to be such a hefty scout, might as well make it med/light cavalry.

As an observation only: it's interesting to see how people get interested, become developers 'by accident' and thus end up doing things which are pleasing to themselves and to others. Yes, the process may cause some frustration (back on topic!) but... 1) if one is patient and perseveres, one will ha...

Sounds more like a trait than an ability. In fact, it's a disability. It might be useful to have non-persistent units though - make them more powerful etc, but cheaper because they have a limited lifespan. Sort of like perpetually poisoned tanks.

Not necessary, but interesting to think about.

Elvish marksmen/sharpshooters are also good to cultivate - at least 1, maybe 2 - for those occasions when you just have to make a kill. Not that mages can't, but they're more fragile, more expensive, etc.

I don't like that name really... how is it a progression from 'Footpad'?
Well, the footpad sneaks up on you (the padding of silenced feet) and coshes you and takes your stuff. The fugitive is the same guy after people start putting posters up about him...

That actually happened. Read the real Sinbad's Tales. And not the bowdlerized childern's version. I'm not sure he talking about that kind of "riding"... I think he's talking about something else... This may be the Art section, but let's not get graphic... Off-topic alert!

I guess defensive units will tend to die on the enemy's turn because they are being attacked more. Offensive units would tend to die on their own turn because they are attacking more. If you are using L0-swarm tactics, then they would tend to die on their own turn and you would summon replacements ...

Are any of these going to be skirmishers? Seems odd that all this hiding and outlawing and all, and they can't break through a ZOC... :)

We'd ride monkeys if they were ride-able.
By the logic of this part of the thread, we'd ride humans if they were ride-able. Hmmm...

I don't understand the part about replacement though. It is easier to replace units that die on your turn... although I don't understand why a Goblin Spearman would be more likely to die on an enemy turn. I guess defensive units will tend to die on the enemy's turn because they are being attacked m...

*solemnly* There were five Istari sent from the West. Three are named in the histories of the Shire-Folk: Radagast the Brown, friend of animals and living things; Gandalf the Grey, friend of the intelligent races of Middle-Earth; Saruman the White, chief of the Order and seeker after knowledge in th...

Thanks, Jetryl. Being useless with such things myself (except to make comments  ) I am always happy to see professionals at work. You're one of those who's pretty consistent about that.

Remember also that an L0 unit can occupy villages and exert ZOC as much as any other unit, whether the other unit is L3 or L5 or whatever. No, the level 0 unit is easier to get out of the way. (and it can't be replaced in enemy turns.) Yes you can kill it faster, but it will cost you time still, an...

The reason I suggest skirmisher for dwarves is that it allows us to simulate some dwarven characteristics: 1) small, so can slip through enemy ranks 2) brutal, so can force themselves through enemy ZOC As was the case with 'undead healing', the property used emulates a completely different paradigm....

I know why he looks like that. He is waiting for all his friends to get wounded, come running back, and cluster around him so that he can spend his precious time healing them all. He would love to be out there flinging his lightrays around, but his commander has decreed that he should not be in the ...
