Re: Possible Bug In Wesnoth 1.6.3 - 1.6.4 Upgrade Kubuntu 9.04
I'm not sure if this is a problem with Wesnoth, a problem with APT, or a problem with the repo, so I don't know if it's a bug to report or not, so I'll post it on the forum instead of bothering the devs. I had Wensoth 1.6.3 installed from the official Ubuntu repos, and try to perform an upgrade to ...

Re: Wesnoth on an eee 7".....?
Nope; command not found. Installed Wesnoth using Synaptic. When I try sudo apt-get wesnoth, it says I allready have the newest version. I love my ubuntu on the eee, but this is starting to piss me off. While a TBS like Wesnoth seems to a great game for my needs! What did I miss? What went wrong? Wh...

Re: GPL Policy
[Just to make sure everyone's on the same page - when you make something GPL, you keep the copyright on the thing as well. You can still do whatever you want with it - unlike when it's commissioned by someone. You still own it. You can still sell it. Well what i am trying to explain in my bad engli...

Re: GPL Policy
Now look at OSD Clause 4. I personally wrote it Sorry, but that claim is a blatant lie, because it's exactly the same wording as in the DFSG. :lol2: so my claim to know what it means is even stronger than for the OSD as a whole. It explicitly permits licenses which require modified versions of code...

Re: GPL Policy
Just as a note: I'm quite sure that a NoDerivs license would be unacceptable for at least some distributions (Debian among them), as is would be non-free. At worst, it means that some Wesnoth music and art would go in a separate Debian package in the non-free tree. This fails to concern me. Keeping...

Re: GPL Policy
I have been asked to suggest a solution to the problem that some Wesnoth composers don't like the aspect of the GPL that allows their music to be modified and redistributed. I agree that this is a valid concern, and I think the GPL is a poor choice for non-code content anyway. I recommend as a solu...

Re: How to build a .deb of 1.5.3 for Ubuntu
A "scons wesnoth" should compile the stuff. I think its to fast, normal compiling needet much more time. A "sudo checkinstall --install=no" cannot find the files. The howto from the wiki is for the stable version with the normal make. Fetch the source from Debian experimental: h...

Re: Auto-patcher
I don't mind downloading the new version packages for Debian, its just that there should be a list of packages that actually changed and the order in which those .deb packages should be installed. Or maybe one really has to install ALL packages (even music) to get the new version? In any case, the ...

Re: Problems running Wesnoth 1.4.1 on Debian.
Sorry for the delay in answer was having some troubles upgrading full to lenny. Ok, got the wesnoth.strace going to send to you now. [/code] Reading your strace file it was discovered that you are running wesnoth as root? Why would you do that? Please learn to understand that root should only be us...

Re: Wesnoth Music Source Files
Unless I'm parsing jeremy2's sentence incorrectly, he wasn't saying he wanted his music distributed only free-of-charge, but rather that he would allow BfW to use his music free of charge, i.e. he didn't expect reimbursement from BfW for writing the music. You are correct, turin. :) Thanks for conf...

Re: Wesnoth Music Source Files
Personally I think this strict adherence to the GPL in this case is impossible, because there is no way the "sources" could be provided in such a way as to make it so that another person could reliably reproduce the same result on a different machine. It is quite possible for one to take ...

Re: Wesnoth Music Source Files
Ok, but what does it really mean? I agreed to the terms, but under what form? Posting on a forum and uploading a music? Don't you usually sign a contract when agreeing to something such as this? Pretty vague for me... All this licence thing seems to be very confused. I don't understand why we just ...
