Re: [mainline] Add Aragwaith to mainline
Just a comment on the "association doesn't matter" argument: Generally I agree. But please be consistent. If it's not a big deal that a faction contains apparent references to Islam, then it also shouldn't be a big deal for a White Mage's staff to resemble a cross, or for the Paladin portr...

You could also just hold down the "Option" key with the Go menu in Finder open. Library will magically appear. Regardless of how you get it to show, I suggest dragging it into the Finder sidebar to create a shortcut for future use.

Re: Wesnoth 10 years from now
Realistic Predictions: Wesnoth will be able to check for updates on startup, and be able to update most of its own features without requiring a relaunch (Includes add ons) Smooth scrolling everywhere, and optional controls optimized for touch: Units can be selected and moved either by individual ta...

Re: River Defense Strategy Guide(Beginners and moderate Play
Holding a river only gives an advantage if the enemy faction is at a greater disadvantage in the water than your forces are on whatever terrain they hold. Dwarves on flat have practically no advantage to elves in shallow water. Frankly, the RNG was being kind to you in that example. The best place t...

Re: Catapults?
:annoyed: There is a topic about what to consider before posting to the Ideas Forum This matches FPI # 24 , and thus it is discouraged to start a topic just to (once more) request it. The mods will lock this. Wesnoth revolves around the KISS principle, and there's also the fact that "Hexes are ...

Re: Variable anchor for status bars, orbs, etc.
Here's an idea... What if instead the health and XP bars hide by default, and appear only when a unit is selected or the cursor is hovering over it? Some kind of blinking, flashing, or small icons of some sort could be used to indicate weak units and units close to leveling. Then placement of bars f...

Re: GPL eagle sounds for the gryphon
Well, because it's not an eagle, it just has an eagle's head, so there's no reason why we'd want it to sound only like an eagle. Better to have the sound be characteristic of the creature as a whole, when possible. But if you'd want a more realism-based excuse, then I'd argue that the sound doesn't...

Re: GPL eagle sounds for the gryphon
Since the gryphon has an eagle head and not a lion one, I don't see why it would be roaring. Maybe a more powerful sounding melee attack would be appropriate.

Re: [mainline] Re-imagining the Mage advancement tree
The magic of the elves is wholly unlike that of humanity, so much so that humans are almost universally incapable of understanding it, let alone using it. Likewise, those who are masters of it are equally enigmatic; though it can be said that they are revered by their people, very little can be sai...

Re: [mainline] Re-imagining the Mage advancement tree
There is nothing in Wesnoth lore that allows for human mages to be learning Elvish magic. The elves that wield it are those who are most in touch with their faerie side, and humans have no faerie nature at all. And even if a faerie nature were not required, humans simply cannot live as long as Elves...

See my reply, Turuk. Mages who follow the Path of Earth could be necromancers.

The expendable leader appears to have a bronze-ish crown with more ornamentation, while the hero appears to have a silver crown with less ornamentation. Seems differentiable enough. It might be better if the hero had the simple gold head-band as worn by loyal units in campaigns.

Re: [mainline] Re-imagining the Mage advancement tree
I like this concept. StandYourGround, can you introduce a path of Earth branch as well? I can included all these advancements in War of Legends and Hero of Irdya (I'm working on this one very slowly) You can argue that Necromancers represent the Path of Earth, as they are most interested in raising...

[mainline] Re-imagining the Mage advancement tree
In the topic about renaming the Red Mage line to make the Level 4 mage more awesome, I started discussing an idea for a brand new mage advancement line, centered around the choices a hypothetical Initiate mage in some Mage academy somewhere makes... Anyways, these advancement lines would be named af...
