Re: The Era of Strife
If you really want it translated, textdomain must be wesnoth-Era_of_Strife, nothing else allowed...
wesnoth-directory_name is a rule, not a convention.

Re: Loyalist Portrait Series
Great pictures. The only thing that bothers me slightly are the eyes of the peasant, they're a little bright IMHO. At least for me they draw the attention completely at first glance.

Re: Wesnoth 1.5.6
All open bugs are visible through the bugs.wesnoth.org page, missing animations are not bugs but simply stuff on the todo list. Wrong gender animations are bugs of course.

Re: IftU Portraits
For me the elbows don't match with each other. Her left (in the background) is too low. I don't think the steeper angle allows for this position unless her hidden shoulder is in a very strange position. The joint seems to be at hip level while standing straight.

Re: Revelation about maths, statistics, and people complaining
Where is there even a problem with this? The game doesn't suit some players because of luck. So what? It was never intended to appeal to everyone. Developers tend to be slightly realistic. It doesn't suit you, <insert name list>? Tough luck, choose another game and be happy that you didn't have to p...

Re: Revelation about maths, statistics, and people complaining
As long as you consider most or many to indicate 100% - don't try to understand the mathematics behind random. You've got more basic stuff to learn first. If you understand the mechanics behind and still don't enjoy the luck aspect it's still simple: Wesnoth is not the right game for you. Maybe a mo...

Re: the king is dead
And remember that Wesnoth uses Ogg Vorbis not MP3 so converting from MP3 to Vorbis would just reduce quality for no gain.

Re: New animations
Or remember what final means for a project like this one. If you find a talented artist who replaces all existing frames of a unit with something better it sure won't be thrown away. (Notice: all. Not just the base frame.) It just won't be part of the official agenda to remake those units again.

Re: the new rangers image
This problem occurs only in MP, not in campaigns so I think it's quite a minor one. The background of units matters much more in campaigns.

I guess he compared the scaled down version of the previous one with the new one and thus perceived an age change.

Re: Campaign: The Life of a Mage
The_Life_Of_A_Mage/scenarios/11-2_A_Shadow_From_The_Past.cfg:52 contains _"" which is forbidden in the latest version found on WesCamp which should match what's on the server. Please fix it.

Re: 1.5.2 Problem
There is no problem. Each version comes in multiple variants and one of those is always .bz2 and not for windows. Wheter and when a .exe appears depends on the free time of the windows packager.

Re: 1.5.2 Problem
The windows binary is NO bzip2 file. Anything ending with .bz2 ist WRONG. You're searching for an .exe linked to as windows version, not the source code.

Re: 1.5.2 Problem
I'm not sure what you're describing here. Problems with downloading stuff from the campaign server are unfortunately not too uncommon, usually retrying helps if done often enough. So far nobody found out why exactly this happens and how to prevent it. For the problem with no execute and bzip2 not fo...

Re: Deathblade+Lich portrait sketches
I guess for the lich we need some kind of hood, magical glow or whatever to be able to omit details. If it's not scary it doesn't fit but if it is we get problems with showing it to children. Therefore the best thing IMHO would be to have a picture which shows little but has hints which allow adults...
