Upgraded to 0.8.5 on 7 October, and started fresh campaigns for both The Dark Hordes (3 of the replays) and Liberty 1.1.3 (the other 2). Can't reproduce this on Linux. Is this with fullscreen or windowed mode? IIRC, fullscreen mode especially seems to have caused problems in the past.

Elves with enough healers should also be able to deal with poisoners. The problem is Knalgans and Loyalists, which can only get rid of poison through villages or high level units.

Of my 0.8.5 single player games, around half turn out to be corrupt when replaying them. The error is always the same, with the AI recruiting a unit it apparently cannot afford. I accidentally commited "unit terrorism" with the L3 advancements. Putting [+units] inside an ifdef statement broke the campaign, so the way it is setup lets you use L3 outlaws outside the campaign. This is repeatable, the error always occurs on action 500. Looking at the 0.8.5 code, there is a definite check for enough gold, so it seems unlikely to be the AI cheating during the original game. I did notice a slight inconsistency, possibly unrelated: in ai::recruit_usage() there is if(i->second....

Thanks. Playing undead is fun, especially with Walking Corpses having 18hp instead of 16 as previously. Perhaps even a bit too easy? I still have the problem of Crelanu's: a repeatable error on turn 6, action 500, as above. And I haven't been modifying the campaign! This seems to rule out small diff...

Over at topic http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3491 it was pointed out that several of the posted 0.8.5 replays were corrupt. Just replayed Mages and Elves; seems to replay fine on my vanilla Linux 0.8.5 installation (built from source, no fancy options, no patches). Where are you seeing corruption? Your comments about starting the second scenario at a disadvantage sound reasonable. However, look at the second replay I posted: the orcs are defeated at turn 9 on Hard (with Liberty 1.1.3, Wesnoth 0.8.5) and I keep the lone survivor around until it threatens to level up on turn 22, harvesting 12+ ...
