the reason: wesnoth 1.3.X is 'beta ware' and stuff like that is added to package.mask.

It is? Why else does he have unusual resistances to mage damage types such as cold and fire? He at least is superior in defending ranged attacks from magi (and then retaliating with a decent attack), with the exception being the now-arcane ones - elvish sorceress and dark sorcerer. they have a high...

Httt: Sceptre of fire bug in 1.3.13&14

Error The game could not be loaded:load_game_failed: Invalid starting position (24,71) for the leader of side 1. This has happened once with .13, reloading the savegame solved it. And twice with 14, because loading the savegame moved the starting position, but gave the same error: The game could not...

yeah, MoL are cool. But I like Shydes. They are easier to get than a Sorceress, can fly, heal AND their not too strong attack makes them ideal for weakening/slowing down enemies, so other units can level easily. Shyde slows down, two other units kill the enemy AND get healed by the shyde at the star...

do you still to have lvl3?

because I am at that scenario now and of course the altar did not hit back. But to get at lvl3 I would have to play.. hm, the complete campaign?

Maybe a big fat warning, that you need to lvl your 'hero' would be in order? Or just remove the lvl3 dep?

i think that the silver mages ability to provide fire power anywhere on the map (which is especially useful when your fighting in more than one area) is great, and it can also run away instantly, making it so hard to kill. also, they require less upkeep than great mages which is crucial in campains...

well, sending the silver mage wherever some extra firepower is needed is a nice touch.

But if you have some great mages, the additional firepower is just not needed :P

arch mage: 12-4
silver mage: 9-4
great mage: 16-4

yes, a silver mage can 'damage' a unit. But arch mages and great mages kill them.

It's a similar concept to using mages. A threat of mages able to kill a critical unit is significant in a game. Problem is, it'd better be done in one turn or the mages are surely done for. Speaking of mages and neglected promotion paths, does anyone use arch mages more than silver mages? in campga...

Actually, it's great for helping other units level. Consider an enemy Orcish Warlord, attack him with two Royal Guards, reducing him to something like 3 HP. Now finish him off with an Intelligent Elvish Shaman. She is now only 2 XP from levelling, so you use her slow attack on something with no ran...

First: I only play campaigns and no multiplayer. In this campaigns are usually try to get at one Lancer - but the first Horseman leveling is always a Knight. You just need a robust unit that is fast AND can take some damage while dealing out some. Usually in the later stages I have three to four lvl...

Bah. Winning by save-loading is not very fair. Really good players shouldn't do that. games are about fun and choice. If he wants to save-load to have fun, it is his choice. I am guilty of that too - not to that extreme, but very often I forget something or did something stupid - no harm don...
