I'm curious - why would axes have a different damage type that swords? They're both chopping/cutting/slashing weapons that do damage by cleaving muscle or bone and opening blood vessels. The most likely cause of incapacitation/death from an axe or sword wound is either dismemberment (of the head, to...

What is it supposed to be? It looks like a hockey player or something right now. It's a start, but I don't think it looks quite right.

0.7.9 is much easier than 0.7.8. The AI doesn't group nearly as much and tends to be pretty stupid after dark. The rebalancing in HttT helped a bunch, too.

I'm using SDL 1.2.7, with Wesnoth-0.7.9. That's not it.

There are two calls to attack_results (one for the attacker and one for the defender). You have to remove them both.

I don't understand why that line is hanging the program but that seems to be the case. When I removed the calls, everything worked fine and I could play through a scenario.

It looks like line 272 of statistics.cpp (wesnoth 0.7.9):

attacker_res[attacker_res.size() - 1] = (res == MISSES ? '0' : '1');

I'm guessing this is an instance where you should be using that new C style array wrapper and not a C style array?

SUSE 9.0 / gcc 3.3.1 bug?

I had to downgrade my laptop from SUSE 9.1 to SUSE 9.0 in order to get my wifi NIC to work, so now I'm trying to get Wesnoth working again... I'm using gcc 3.3.1 to compile. The game compiles and installs without difficulty. I can even play a turn or three. As soon as I get into combat, the game loc...

I'm distressed to discover that at 29 I'm one of the older semi-regular posters. It's a complete reversal from my day job where I'm usually the youngest person in the room.

If you're a decent player, it's not hard to have 200+ gold on every scenario past Northern Winter, and on most of the scenarios before it. Increasing the minimum gold would give a boost to people who lost the vast majority of their army in Princess' Revenge and ended up broke on top of that. Griffon...

What's the rational behind this? I'm not questioning the decision, I just don't have any idea why it was made.

I really think the minimum gold should be in the 150-200 range after Bay of Pearls. 100 is simply not enough to recover from a bad scenario - that's only 5-6 units. I suggest a minimum gold of 140 on hard, 160 on medium, and 200 on easy. It still gives an advantage to getting more gold (I often reca...

Maybe go with a red shirt and boots and the black cloak? It's not so muddy, but it's still dark-toned and not Little Red Riding Hood.

What's wrong with "explicit" spells? In the Wiki entry on Wesnoth Philosophy, David says he doesn't long spells that can be cast from one side of the battlefield to the other. It sounds like he didn't want there to be a menu option for globally castable spells. Having a unit target another unit - fr...

Did anyone else have problems with the screen not being fully redrawn in "The High Road"? Whenever I scrolled, I would get echoes of my units in some places. It made it very frustrating to play the scenario and I just gave up. I have to say that the first scenario was rather annoying. Having units t...
