Re: Stay away, FAI [solved]

IIRC debug_print is a FAI function that returns its parameter unchanged but print it (I don't remember where it prints it, might be as chat...)

and no, FAI is not deprecated

Re: GSoC 2011 idea - Ladder

hmm yes and no... the No side... I personally have discussed with a couple of devs about integrating the existing ladder into the game, and there was a general negative response. The general fear is that it would make our MP community too competitive and would loose most of th sport spirit it has. T...

Re: Khalifate facelift: final tweaks in progress

if you are talking of the TC lines, it's a harness. (no real purpose or historical precedents, we wanted to have TC at different places for lvl0 and lvl1 to help unit difrerenciation)

Re: [engine] Generate black backgrounds for art on install?

I like it, couple of comments

* "percent%" as a column header doesn't sound good, either go for "defense", and write the content as XX% (like resistances) or user "defense %" as the column header
* what is the "1" under the image ?

Re: Water lilies

Well, it certainly does something : lilyface.jpg Not sure if that was what you were hoping for. And here's what it looks like the way I had it before, just for comparison: lilytransparent.jpg actually it sort of is... with those two macros you can draw stuff that will go behind and stuff that will ...

Re: Goblin Spearman Run Cycle

remember that it's possible to use a "before walk" / "after walk" animation if you want to change the way he holds his spear (that's how drake take-off and landing is implemented)

Re: Water lilies

the only way to do it would be to have a three layer terrain bottom semi transparent unit lillies that might be doable with the current system, try using OVERLAY_COMPLETE_L <terrain> <where to use small variation> 1 <image name> not sure it wil help (try with a value of 10 instad of 1 and see if it ...

I got them right away. Readability-wise, you're right on spot

I won't comment on the artistic aspect, I find them great but i'm peanut-level, artwise

Re: Does UtBS need portraits?

Hello Ellisae, obviously you're very talented and really close to mainline quality, so i'll give you the typical "good artist" greeting since nobody beats me to it :P Ok, obviously you know what you're doing and your first try is close enough to mainline style to show that you'll be able to use that...

Re: A new terrain type?

I personally think this is a case of gameplay trumping realism... if we have a way to do a city terrain that looks good, blends well, is clearly not a healing point and won't be mixed up with one... let's go for it

You release so often  Didn't really started to run 1.9.2 and 1.9.3 is just there :) Really great, devs! :D I'll have a look at it today / tomorrow. Crend Carefull, this is a developement release, not a stable one... you will have much less players on the servers, and much less user made cont...

Re: A new terrain type?

I think it's a great idea from a story point of view we really need city but putting lots of villages together is a very bad idea gameplaywise... having a terrain that would be like a village but without giving healing/money would solve that problem nicely, and playing with the difference of scale t...
