Compilation problem

Based on CVS of approximately an hour ago : Looks like a Makefile problem, failing to link map_label.o: g++ -I/usr/local/include/SDL -D_REENTRANT -DWESNOTH_PATH=\"/usr/local/share/wesnoth\" -g -O2 -L/usr/local/lib -Wl,-rpath,/usr/local/lib -lSDL -lpthread -lm -ldl -lasound -L/usr/X11R6/lib...

Update

Problem still present with latest CVS download of about 60 minutes ago (ie approx 19:00 GMT). Turning off the "floating label" option made no apparent difference. Console messages from new campaign (TttT) - skipping most of the intro - finish with: showing intro part In the twenty-seventh ...

Further details

The same problem occurs with tutorial and saved games from tutorial, which is where I first encountered it. Similar problems occur in playing saved campaign games (which are from earlier version of wesnoth) and in starting multiplayer games. Different problem occurs in starting a new campaign - the ...

Dave: Can you describe this 'hanging' problem in more detail? I can't seem to reproduce it at all.
Unfortunately there's not really anything more to say about it.

If you can't reproduce it, I won't waste any more of your time.

Christophe33: By the way, here is some pasture, either for horse or cattle (not provided). Well, in middle age, farmers were using mostly hedge rather than fence but fences provides a sharper border and are probably better for the game. Agreed that hedges were used rather than fences. Also cultivat...

Christophe33 write: Since the wheat crop is supposed to be about 2-3 feet high (60-90 cm), it would be nice to have the unit lowered a bit to partly disappear behind it. Actually wheat could reach about six feet in height in medieval times - thus hiding units completely. As crops have been selective...

Minor typo/bug

Inside the Tower appears to have a typo in the code to implement the difficulty settings :
Approximately line 133
#ifdef=EASY
should be
#ifdef EASY

Perhaps there should be some minor adjustment for "hard" too - at present there is no difference between the different settings.

More comments

Thanks for your reply to my earlier comments Benj. I've now played to the end of the currently available scenarios (Silent Forest), and my view is much the same. It still seems relatively hard, specially in comparion with the Loyalist Campaign. This isn't necessarily "bad", and my own play...

Cataphract-style knight perhsps ?

Another options would be to make the "Grand Knight" something similar to a cataphract. This would be a heavily armoured unit, with multiple weapons (eg lance, bow, sword, mace, dagger), but carrying all that weight the poor horse would be slow. Compared with the original proposal Grand Kni...
