??

it's not a hat, it's his hair :).
Drow elves have different colors of hair in ForgottenRealms. Most popular drow is Drizzt Do'Urden, who had white hair, and probably that's why most people think all drow elves must have white hair.

Re: scripting interface

The main thing I don't like about it is that it is a custom syntax, so I can't use any of the authoring tools I normally use for editing XML, perl, or whatever. The missing power of a full-blown scripting language isn't such an issue for me. Hmm.. if You like XML then it should be pretty simple to ...

I believe what he is trying to say is that the swords in the frames with swishes should be flipped(horizontally for #3, vertically for #4) The way they are drawn now makes it look (at least as a still picture) like he is stabbing with them, not swinging them. for example, with the current blade ori...

Those orcish-warlord-attack images look very nice. But it would be better if in "orcish-warlord-attack3.png" front sword (the one with "swinging" trail) was mirrored, ie. it should have it's edge turned to left side of image, not right. Try to swing something like he swings that sword. You'll see th...

The problem isn''t with knowing the words, its with them not fitting what they are attached to. Based on the general germanic tone of the game, Konrad would never call anything a yeti, because he speaks a germanic language, NOT a tibetian language. The word yeti would not mean anything to him. Yes,...

Re: Two linguistic concerns

1. Yeti is a word that comes from the sherpas in tibet... not really something that people in an area otherwise similar to northern europe would say. Why not use, say, frost giant? Hmm.. I'm from Poland and i know word "Yeti" and i think it's ok for images in game. Frost gaint makes me think of the...

Problem with book

Also it looks like he's holding book opened toward observer. If he casts spell and he must read it from book, he should keep book opened for his eyes, not observer's :).

Wesnoth 0.8.8 the same

couldn't get it to work with 3.4.2 but with 3.4.3 it works. Without optimzation though... I compiled Wesnoth 0.8.8 using GCC 3.4.3. It also had problem with multiplayer.cpp and ICEd (internal compiler error). I tried compiling just that one file with different -O levels and it looks like -O1 works,...

KK_r wrote:was it the same error? gcc stealing all computer power?
Well.. i'm not 100% sure if it was the same, but yes, it was stealing all RAM (much much more than usual). CPU usage was more or less the same. After hitting RAM max it was just crashing.

I compiled 0.8.7 with GCC 3.4.2 and also had some error. I found it was because of -O3 optimization and only with one file (IIRC multiplayer.cpp, but it's easy to find out - just check at which file it errors :)). Maybe You have similar case? I compiled just that one file without optimization, and r...

Hotseat: hotseat: human sitting in chair, few others waiting for it. I think that's a good idea, because it doesn't literally depend on "hotseat" word, which doesn't have to be translatable to all languages. While Dave's idea is cool for english language, it may have not sense at all for other langu...

I think so too.

Eyes on top B could be changed to be more like top A, because now it looks like he was scared by something (probably something larger, because he's looking up ;)).

That's very good text. And it doesn't apply only to game development, but to any development. I have much more unfinished (or even not-really-started) projects than the ones which can be called "finished" (project is never really finished, there's always something to add/fix/change ;)). I'll try to ...

Nice work

I like the idea. What's more, it could be used to make undeads really different, to have special strategy: instead of giving undeads a possibility to recruit everything, just allow "normal", simple units (bats, dark adept, etc..). And other ("undead") units could only be recalled from dead enemies. ...
