Re: Help popups in not helpful place

No, it isn't intentional that the helptip is in the way.

Re: Greetings and salutations

Hello and welcome. Your development help would definitely be appreciated. :) Anyway, I went looking through the bug tracker looking for something to get my hands dirty with and found this https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/issues/1796 Seems simple enough. What I don't know is how to take ownership o...

Re: Various questions: making unit unable to be attacked

For making the unit unable to be attacked: this might not be what you need, but on 1.13 you can add the invulnerable status that prevents attacks from hitting the unit.

Re: Performance experiences with 1.13.x

It does seem like moving beyond software rendering is something that needs to happen Is that really true? While the game is struggling and lagging on my machine, I have three processors sitting idle. Would shifting map animations into a separate thread be harder than using accelerated rendering? An...

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.8 (1.14 Beta 1)

This seems like a font smoothing (anti-aliasing) issue. You could disabling it in your system preferences and see if it helps; I'm not sure if there's anything Wesnoth could do about it though. I did compare it to 1.12.6 before posting, and as it seems much clearer there, I still hope that Wesnoth ...

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.8 (1.14 Beta 1)

My Windows (8.1) prevented the downloaded .exe from executing (because it could potentially be dangerous), after doing it anyway it asked for confirmation; this behavior is unlike e.g. 1.13.6, where I was just asked for the confirmation. I don't know what changed, but think it'd be neat if the firs...

It has not. With "fixed for 1.13.8" I meant that the fix is already in Git master, and will be in 1.13.8 (unless we need to revert it).

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.7

The add-on manager works certainly works better than in 1.13.6 but after downloading an add-on it trys to reconnect to the addon server and crashes every time. I have tested installing add-ons with the add-on manager quite many times and haven't experienced such a crash. The crash you get might be ...

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.7

This may be a noob question, but this is one way to learn. The above post says the Windows download is (369.6 MB) When I start the download, it says XX.XX/352MB XX minutes left Is there a discrepancy here? The reason I ask, I have tried to download it twice, both packages were different sizes upon ...

Yes, speed-up is likely. :)

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.6

but there was afaik no work on optimizing the dialogs performance, so i it's unliekely that 1.13.7 will fix your problem. There was this fix though, so perhaps that will help here as well. gfgtdf: That fix is primarily about dialog performance. 1.13.6 suffers from severe lag on slow PCs because it ...

Re: Wesnoth 1.13.6

Now I can say, for me at least, e02df2f works, and 1155cb8 does not. Thanks. It proves that the issue is a regression caused by commit 1155cb8. I'll investigate it next week. Fixed: https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/commit/02b39fff533829be692f2ff4e655d6b77533e3b3 It was a bug in the canvas GUI wid...

Fixed: https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/commit/7d403bcd696edd1db3a596a4a4a2e1b77fc71196 Interestingly, this seems to have fixed this issue for me as well. Though, now drop down menus aren't registering any of my clicks - selecting an option in the right-click menu, selecting an option from the in...

Re: Oath of Allegiance [SP Desert People Campaign for 1.13.5

Well, that was interesting, thanks for the info :) Is the fix an option in preferences, a line somewhere in core or something in the campaigns scenario files? Should be helpful if I stumble upon it again. The workaround is disabling this preference: Monte Carlo preference.PNG The actual fix is in C...
