Re: Hide village owner flags?

Can I do that, just use a totally-transparent image?
Won't the team-coloring engine complain the flag picture doesn't fit the specifications?

Hide village owner flags?

I'm hiding villages (using the overlay) but that leaves a silly flagpole with the flag. Is there a way to tell the game to not display village flags for a given side? I've found explanations on how to change and customize flags, but none on removing them altogether.

Does the Map Editor store any temp files?

I was working with the Map Editor (1.12.5) for about an hour and a half when all of a sudden it went away. Just like that. (Just for the record, it crashed when I clicked on the "Add Side" menu item for the third time (to add a 3rd side): A random crash, since this is something I've successf...

Re: Anyone remembers old artstyle?

Li'sar and Konrad are drawing particular amounts of ire because Heir to the Throne is some sort of a titular campaign. I was going to say that. *nods* Also, they are in the tutorial, so they are really the very first people you meet in BfW: Li'sar as the standard BfW female, Konrad as the standard ...

Re: Anyone remembers old artstyle?

Padding and mail isn't body paint / skin texture. Although imo the portraits make her look larger than she is meant to be by being overly shapely. This leads the viewer to underestimate the contribution of padding and mail to overall size. It's IMHO more complicated than that: Put padded clothing o...

Re: Wesnoth2 ruleset (or undoing Wesnoth)

"No plan survives contact with the enemy" and all that. This might be why I actually like the RNG. ;) There is always a RNG, check classic RPGs. Taking AD&D as an example (being the grandfather, and the inspiration of most RPGs), units have an initiative dice roll, a to-hit dice roll, and a damage ...

Very interesting! Thanks a lot. :D

Re: Anyone remembers old artstyle?

I'm not of the opinion that it really even works, to have someone see themselves in a character, since a) you're going to have a lot of different people playing your game, who hold different values, and b) it means you end up not giving the main character who drives much of the plot any particularl...

Re: Anyone remembers old artstyle?

Just my 2 cents worth about the old vs new Konrad & Li'sar portraits. Having played through "Heir to the Throne" last month, I can say that IMHO neither Li'sar portrait fits the character. The old one was a cutesy underage girl you wouldn't trust with a bread knife. Going to the opposite, the new on...

Re: Scenario code twice in savegame - Why?

No, of course I don't mean those kind of bugs. Those I'd put into the "to be fixed ASAP" category. By "minor bugs" I mean for instance the fact my laptop's screen never remembers the luminosity I set it to, that kind of thing. (Yes, Toshiba laptops weren't built for Linux, I have noticed that by now...

Re: Scenario code twice in savegame - Why?

Playtesting finds only the most obvious ones. Then again, what is a bug? :?: There is the creator's intention: Players should be told a given story and (most important) enjoy themselves doing so. If you reach this goal, I'd be tempted to say 99.9999% of the work is done, and well done. Now what abo...

Re: Scenario code twice in savegame - Why?

Well, I'm fine with loading the master copy from scenario-start and using the debug commands to fast-forward to where I need to be. It's a procedure which has its uses. But I don't think it's a silver bullet, especially with events which have complicated dependencies. I'd rather test them in contex...

Re: Scenario code twice in savegame - Why?

I'm with Dugi here. I found editing savegames to be the quickest way to debug. And no, I don't need to re-test the fixed scenario, since the fixes are usually minor (typos, mostly). I fix the typo, copy the resulting code into the savegame and try the trigger again to validate - In 99.9% of the case...
