Re: Khalifate "Khalid" unit - did I miss something?

I see.
Suboptimal though, given one expects the unit sprite to show the equipment the actual unit carries. (Or, in case the sprite has enough "wow" factor, the unit to carry the equipment the sprite depicts.)
Thanks.

Khalifate "Khalid" unit - did I miss something?

The "Khalid" unit is carrying a longsword and a shield. Yet, the unit sprite art shows him holding two sabers. What did I miss? I found a thread about Khalifate (26 pages!). What I discovered having a quick look inside is that there apparently is/was some art made showing the Khalid with his...

Re: Scenario code twice in savegame - Why?

Back to savegame structure.

Since apparently the savegame copies the full unit sheet, where are the unit's animations (attack/defense/idle) stored? I can't find them in a savegame.
Or does the game consult the unit's .cfg file for those?

Re: Ambush? I think I don't get it.

Yes, that could work. But I think the question is more about changing the name or not. If a majority of people had spoken up saying that they didn't feel like this is a good name, one could go on and search for a better fitting name; But the general opinion has been lukewarm, more like "well, maybe"...

Re: On Wolves, the Feral trait, and miscellaneous units

My point is that the "expected damage" already includes just half of the attacks hitting. Do you mean that Wesnoth units always do full damage (if one ignores victim resistances)? Guess I'm too influenced by RPGs and other games where a damage of 20 means the unit does an amount of damage f...

Re: On Wolves, the Feral trait, and miscellaneous units

Your math is off. (I guess this is meant against 50% defense?) The Orc Archer in three rounds has 9 attacks, each of 6 damage. This is 9·6/2 = 27 expected points of damage (maximum 54). The ship has three attacks, each 20 damage. This is 3·20/2 = 30 expected points of damage (maximum 60). True. The...

Not if you give it the same day & night time schedule as the rest of the map, would it?

Re: Orcish assassins have half movement on hills?

Just my 2 cents, I'd vote for consistency too (ie orc assassins having the same movement as other orcs).
They're orcs for crying out loud. What does slow them down? The absence of armor?...

Re: How do you define a custom terrain?

My point. *nods*
It would be safer to allow more letters in the terrain strings. Being able to add (for instance) the UMC initials in the string would eliminate 99% of collisions. IMHO and all that.

Celtic_Minstrel wrote:Isn't there an [area] tag for just this purpose?
Apparently not, or I didn't know how to use it (on 1.12): As I said further up, the game doesn't recognize "area=someID" as a valid filter (it triggers all the time, which means the filter is ignored).

Re: How do you define a custom terrain?

I'm not sure about editor, though. I was mainly talking about the editor: You have to make the editor acknowledge your custom terrain if you want to make a map using it (unless you go the tedious way of search & replace). In a vanilla BfW installation (no UMC downloaded), you already see the terrai...

Re: How do you define a custom terrain?

Limiting strings to 4 characters is IMHO a bad idea anyhow, since it prevents people from making sure their terrain won't crosstalk with some other terrain of some other installed UMC. If for instance I could insert my campaign's initials into the string, it would lower the chances of collisions. Mo...

Re: How do you define a custom terrain?

That was it! Thanks a lot! :D (For the record, the limit seems to be 4 characters.) Besides, the length limitation of the string would be a useful bit of information to put into that WML Reference Wiki... :annoyed: So the next person trying to do terrains won't waste one hour trying to guess the pro...

How do you define a custom terrain?

Brick wall, again... *sigh* How do you define a custom terrain? :?: I looked into the core files to see how it's done, checked the existing terrain macros, it all seemed pretty straightforward, poor naive me. Here is what I did and the game doesn't like. There is one file named "terrain.cfg", here i...
