Re: Zombies

I'd say that the Tentacle should just end up, in an ideal world, turning into a 'zombie sea monster' unit, along with the two Serpents and the Cuttle Fish. We're unlikely to get such a thing though.

Addition of Unused Mainline Units To Default Era

For the most part this applies to level 2 units as alt promotions and heroes, basically! There's a number of odd units that are just laying about which I think some different things ought to be done with! I think for starters, the Royal Warrior and Death Knight ought to be put in as available heroes...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

The very nature of the kind of magic the various races use possibly prohibits their use of dark magic. Elves and mermen utilize a fae magic heavily entwined with the forces of nature around them, dwarves only use magic via runic enchantments, which are lost to their kind, and drakes are explicitly e...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

There aren't /that/ many of such unit variations really, and their not being mainlined is more about their art and stats not yet being up to snuff. When it comes to non-human units, there's the Merman King, which is IMO good enough to be placed as a generic merfolk lord unit, and the Merman Brawler,...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

There's provisions for different kinds of elves - they're listed as wood-elves in image files. I'm in support of the Under the Burning Suns elves being somehow integrated into the regular timeline. I think halfbreeds are right out though. These are different species we're talking about, attempts at ...

Re: Elvish Shamans vs Mages in HttT

Basically it boils down to, at no point do any of the Mages get the ability to slow things, and that's one of the most useful features of the Shaman. You level the Shaman up to secure that ability so you can put them against stronger and stronger units with less risk. The Sorceress gets an extra str...

Re: What user-made factions do you most like?

I like Windsong, back in the days I used to like them very much, I loved the Song of Fire campaign (I actually loved all the 3 campaigns of the series) and I loved playing with windsong there. They are a strong faction and have some unique units like the troll teleporting crystal, the slowing mage ...

Re: Are humans overfeatured?

I wouldn't quite count Khalifate just yet - their place in the lore is ambiguous and they're not yet featured in any official story content. They're just a glimpse at what might be 'outside' the normal realms of Wesnoth, and possibly a secondary nexus of the story. As humans ourselves, we are biased...

Re: Recruitment

Most campaigns heavily incentivize using your hero farther afield by making them have leadership - not only do they make your surrounding units better, but if they get experience of their own, they get even better at it. The effect is slightly mitigated by how most heroes cap at level 3, same as eve...

Re: Zombies

The Swimmer is a tough one, yes. I'd say...focus on making it look like a merman rather than being ambiguous? Ideally there'd be a corpse variant for each race, there just isn't one for the Nagas yet (they ought to have a different movetype anyway, since they're slightly more 'amphibious' than merme...

Re: Mainline campaign sprites and animations needed

I think the blue's more ideal so it can be a more versatile sprite. The idea of recoloring variations beyond team color is very very cool and could have a lot of applications beyond just this scenario, so if the loyalists will be made into a more brownish bronze in UTBS, their associated new unit ou...

Re: Remake Goblin Defense and movement

It wasn't actually that long ago when Goblins were buffed - they used to be 8 cost but deal merely 5-3 damage. 6-3's actually very very good for a 9 cost unit - it actually puts it up there for highest damage per gold in the game, surprisingly, at a straight up 2-1 ratio at base (not even the ultra ...

Re: Remake Skeleton Warrior line

Damage per strike is less, yes, but that doesn't really matter aside from weird high-concept level calculations (and things like percent modifiers) and possibly subjective calls when it comes to whether you'd want a unit to deal its 18 damage in 3-6 (very useful if you are up against something with ...

Re: Unit Flavor Text change request

I would say that anecdotes and excerpts like these ought to be addendums to existing descriptions and not replacements. A good model I think is the Civilopedia of Civilization, whereby the bulk of the article is mostly a cut and dry description of the entity at hand, but perhaps it's prefaced by an ...

Re: Remake Skeleton Warrior line

A simple addition of 2 or 3 damage can actually have a lot of impact - for example, a Drake Fighter explicitly has just barely enough HP to survive two hits from a Dark Adept at night. As in, a base Fighter has 39 HP, a Dark Adept will do 38 (though you will have modifiers by traits - a Quick one wi...
