Re: Scenario Review: NR 1 - Breaking the Chains
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Normal, 1.15.2. (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 6. I've always been intimidated by this scenario, but playing it for the first time in years, I found it wasn't nearly so bad as I remembered. Did the keep move? I feel li...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.6 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
There are possibly various things getting mixed here. The proposal (as it is), is all there in its own thread (as it was a proposal meant to spark discussion, a lot changed from the original post though...). Later in the thread, there is a concrete proposal for arc 2 (the HttT arc) because that's t...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.6 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
That was mostly PMs on Discord, so until I have time to really write something down (and before that, I need to do a lot of replaying), I can't show you anything besides what nemaara wrote in the Rewrite thread. I'm strongly in favour of nemaara's proposals in the rewrite thread, but I have to say ...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Extra Units
It's fairly early on, hardly any shading, but I have started a portrait for the level 1 naga. I'm not LordBob, but even if a better version shows up, this can still be an alternate. One quibble - leather (I think that's leather on the belt and under the chestplate?) doesn't do too well with water, ...

Re: Maximum damage from a single strike, or in a single turn
https://forums.wesnoth.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15612&hilit=highest+damage Always interesting to see how the game has changed, and yet even over thirteen years it's the Horseman line that remains the best damage-dealer in the game, and it's achieved through giving it holy/arcane damage. Your...

Maximum damage from a single strike, or in a single turn
On the Discord server this morning, EoZ, catbegemot, and I were discussing the maximum possible damage that a unit can do in mainline Wesnoth, both with a single strike, and in a single turn. For the single strike calculation, we arrived at 81 damage. This involves using a Grand Knight, which deals ...

Re: Need Merfolk Campaign other than Dead Waters
A lot of UMC content doesn't get updated, and is only available on older editions of the game. I don't know of any other merfolk campaign, but if you've still got the older editions installed it might be worth checking the addon servers on them.

Re: Campaign dialog log
That's because we all know who those characters are. There's some cases where the speaker is just whichever of your units moves to a specific hex, or even just whichever unit the game flags as an 'advisor' for dialogue. In those cases, having just the name could be confusing. Well, yes... but on th...

Re: Campaign dialog log
Why? If I look at, say, https://github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/blob/586e6df1a08dbdc3836a1288d88bcc84b5f32365/po/wesnoth-tb/wesnoth-tb.pot#L1254-L1267 (from AToTB), I can follow the dialog well even though it only gives the speaker's id, not their portrait. That's because we all know who those character...

Re: recommended campaign sequence
I prefer another system - there are many villages in the map and AI have the constant flow of money from villages so there is no 'the first and the last' wave. You either win the battle for villages or you will be overwhelmed with time. So you simple cannot sit and wait while AI will break his forc...

Re: Which faction do you think is the most difficult to play?
Klanga is the hardest faction. I literally know only one person who constantly has very good results with them and in general people tend to struggle while playing as them. I think their main problem is a lack of offensive power. They've very difficult to attack against, given how Dwarvish Fighters...

Re: Female Avatars
I'd argue that's just one of many archetypes for mages. There's so many famous female magi in folklore and mythology - Circe, Medea, Morgana Le Fay, Baby Yaga, I could go on. It's just a shame that we don't have many characters who look to those myths for inspiration, but so many of the 'Sage' arch...
