Re: Technical Questions related to open source software and

The point is that anyone else who has a copy can then also sell copies from the the copy they've just bought in competition => price drops = end of story. I'm pretty sure that the point has nothing to do with competition or price Whatevs. since you obviously can't be bothered to actually check the ...

Re: Technical Questions related to open source software and

GPL permits you to sell copies provided you also comply with the licence terms. The point is that anyone else who has a copy can then also sell copies from the the copy they've just bought in competition => price drops = end of story. However, so far as I can tell, Wesnoth artwork has been excluded ...

How do I tell who drew what artwork?

If I go through the Wesnoth data directory I can find various artworks but any one I check doesn't have metadata. The campaigns I check usually have some reference in _main.cfg ("Artwork and Graphics Design") - but they're not always specific. Is there an easy way to tell who drew what?

Re: A New Order art

Dropping the eyebrows was pretty effective. I think a darker background would help too? Staff/hand is better.
I think Grekulak would probably not have [the soft cartilage on] his nose. Is the red thing at the back his cloak? It's hard to work out what it is.

Re: A New Order art

My first impression was that I really like this interpretation. I think it does need to be more menacing as you say, and the perspective on the staff isn't working properly. Is Łukasz going to finish it off or has he stopped work?

@szopen
You are too kind. I am at best an apprentice. Will comment in that thread.

Re: Starting on a portrait?

So, why don't you use one of the existing portraits for Buffin?
eg garard.png from Delfador's memoirs?

Re: Starting on a portrait?

wesnoth_portrait_rc1_wesnothianoutlines130516.jpg Changed to "Wesnothian" outlines (black-> desaturated colour), inked sash, reworked right hand, better matched hand colours, reworked cuffs on both arms I am mainly unhappy about the hair. There is also an issue with matching values across the portr...

Re: Starting on a portrait?

Thanks. I was originally going to do a portrait of Karen from ANO, but that was before I upgraded to 1.10 and saw that there already was a portrait. So, after that, it was more an exercise in getting used to everything - from the style right down to everything to do with digital inking and using a t...

Re: Starting on a portrait?

wesnoth_portrait_mockup_8_c.png Added left hand, shading/colouring not complete (match right hand). The left hand conceals a duelling dagger. Another option is for her left hand to hold a scabbard. Reworked right hand/sleeve. Reworked face a little - lifted shadow beside nose and on right side of f...

Re: Starting on a portrait?

Thanks so much Sfault, the skirt is my first tonal study on a computer. I have compared the RH face to other levels on the figure in greyscale. They seem comparable. I agree that shadow right beside her nose is probably too deep, esp. as I have pulled other highlights back. How strongly do you feel ...

Re: Starting on a portrait?

wesnoth_portrait_mockup_8_b.png More wip. Removed outlines in underskirt, added shading Incorporated many changes suggested earlier to face - nose is smaller and eyebrows higher. I have made the highlights on the face and chest much more subtle. Tone gradations on chest are also mollified. Tried to...

No real progress. Not particularly happy with the hair. Just posting to keep a rhythm (also not a rejection of any earlier suggestions).
