be notified about posts in one's own threads

Hello, Currently, it seems that, with standard options, we are not notified about newposts in one's own threads (!). (We are notified if anyone quotes us, but this is not specific to threads we created.) It is very annoying, because we have to visit all of them regularly just to know, just in case. ...

purpose of [move_unit_fake]

I don't understand the actual purpose of [move_unit_fake]. I think I understand that it is intended to be used in conjonction with [hide_unit] and [unhide_unit], but why? Is it only to spare processor power, since actually moving a unit must be costly? Or are there cases where we can, or should , on...

Re: portraits of female trolls

hm, oh those just for the pose for the portrait of heroine's troll welp, not the end product lol, just getting composition ideas and giving you some ability to make some choices in the art direction. The accessories will be done don't worry, lol, the grey scale is just me rendering the light and sh...

Re: portraits of female trolls

Hello BraverPleinair! took me a while to figure out some ideas first but here ya go. I'll get to accessories after and what not after this. Waow! I love that; and really impressed. Great idea to connect with spiderman (and now with the picture of a gorilla, we know where the designer of the original...

debug prints -- simple & practical

Hello, Experienced game authors certainly have their own tools for debug prints, maybe better than that. Anyway: I have found a way to implement for WML the wonderful little procedure "note" that I use in debugging... when the programming language allows implementing it: it must be a dynamic languag...

Re: [difficulty] : add params for image + var

And something on topic too - the gender key seems unlikely to be useful. You need to know the filename in order to know about "units/human-magi/mage", so you might as well add +female.png yourself. You are right indeed, but only once we know that '+' is part of the name, not a special code; just li...

Re: Inserting predefined leader and units into side def

Also if you really hate marcos I think your only option is to write your scenario completey in lua, maybe even use lua scenario_generation. It's not that I hate macros, simply there are too many languages needed to define games, all mixed and totally incoherent: basic WML as data description langua...

Re: Inserting predefined leader and units into side def

You could make extensive use of [insert_tag], I suppose. I don't really see the difference between labelling a block of code with an id and defining it as a macro though. Well, things with ids are like ordinary variable in a real prog lang. We can access, modify, copy, etc... Actually, that's imo t...

Re: [preload] [prestart] [start] events

Thank you all!
Since there is no critic of my description (in first post) of these events and their uses, should I consider that it is correct anough? Others may read that, especially novice campaign authors, who I do not want to mislead...

How a creature walks is based more on body structure and maturity than how physically strong they are.
You are right. Trolls stand and walk straight, dont they?

[preload] [prestart] [start] events

Hello, I am a bit confused about [preload] [prestart] [start] events, like many probably ;-). I would like someone knowledgeable to clearly explain why each exists, what actually happens, how all is done in fact. Here is my present best guess, as I wrote inside a scenario intended to explain WML usa...

Re: portraits of female trolls

Hm, so for the welp, do you want, her to be a quadrupedal like in the art for the troll welp? I have always found the quadrupedal whelps a very, very idiotic choice. Would we represent human youngs as crawling on the ground? (And there is no reason that trolls are as or more physically immature tha...

Campaign Global "Options"

Hello, I discovered with great pleasure the new possibility of introducing user choices (so-called "options") directly in _main, for global campaign choices. However, I have 2 issues with the way it is done now: First, we are imposed a title and a text, which are: * title: "Configure options" * text...

Re: Inserting predefined leader and units into side def

In terms of having other people understand (and maybe maintain) your code, it's probably best to use the same coding style as the most recently added campaigns (SotA and WoV). That sadly does mean using macros for defining all your heroes. Yes, I understand and actually support the fact of having a...

Re: portraits of female trolls

hmm female trolls? I just started playing the game a few days ago, but I'll see what I can do lol. No Promises. But I can play with a few concepts if that will fine with you. edit: @OP nothing amazing, but I did a few body concepts, with some poses that you might want for the portrait. WesnothTroll...
