Re: Main Factions Balance

So I will go over every single point in detail. “General Overview After many years of playing and a lot of conversations with extremely experienced players I've decided to open the thread to discuss main factions balance. I know game purists will say "balance is perfect" or "there are too many facto...

That was funny. :D

Btw with Undead, you can't leave the Dark Adepts out of your mix, not in any situation. Get them from the get go in decent numbers. They are your core units, not the Skeletons. At least if you want to have any success in multiplayer.

Re: Looking for Strategy Guide on Undead

If you want to have any success with Undead in multiplayer, then Dark Adept has to be your core unit in all matchups. If your opponent(s) knows the basics, and you don't have a decent number of DAs, your skeletons might as well just go back to their graves.

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Removed Units & Extra Units

.. "Or advanced water magic." Ah you mean water magic. Maybe, i guess? depends on how strong that magic is, would need to be really strong, im thinking if we do that then maybe we should also introduce locomotives powered by red mages' fireballs haha. idk about such an idea, but it would get crazy ...

Im not sure how I should respond to this, I mean I appreciate your effort and you make some good points but if you have no idea about some topic its good to do a bit of research on it before commenting. “one is mining, scavenging from shipwrecks, trading or raiding.” Yes, I agree with this, sca...

... “Why can't the merfolk just make their own tridents? Do you think mineral resources like iron ore simply don't exist under the sea?” Well, do you think that mermen are capable of swimming deep enough and construct deep, underwater mines and also they are able to efficiently mine with a pickaxe ...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Removed Units & Extra Units

I think you're confused about the meaning of egalitarian , no offense. ;) They have clearly an authoritarian caste system. Yes, egalitarian may have not been the best word, i meant that their castes are characterised by social equality. To confirm this, these excerpts from TROW : "Lady Dionli: Ther...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Removed Units & Extra Units

Orcs are an egalitarian society, they ally with nagas and presumably supply them with weapons, and do not demand anything in return except help in their raids. Where did you get this from? To me it would actually make more sense if the nagas were supplying orcs with weapons, not the other way aroun...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Changes In Unit Lines & Base Units

Alright, maybe marksman on level 3 and above isn't that bad. And since there is no melee marksman unit in default it could be argued that marksman on melee can mean anything. But on ranged, on 3 unit lines in default that have marksman, it really does look like a statement of skill. Sharpshooter's e...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Removed Units & Extra Units

We have been talking a lot about naga and DS, (Im absolutely fine if it was called Dust Devil instead, though then it has the same name as the campaign Dust Devil) and DS seemed like a perfect desert-themed unit to add to Dunefolk. It wouldn’t be just a water unit like naga either, when it comes to ...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Changes In Unit Lines & Base Units

Finally, do keep in mind that we're discussing marksman for a level 3 unit, and the unit name is "Bladesmaster". This in no way implies that the Dunefolk have better swordsmen as a whole – the bladesmasters are not representative of the average skill of a Dunefolk swordsman. They are the masters, t...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Changes In Unit Lines & Base Units

I think its a fact that in lore elves have superior dexterity to humans, considering that their archers are the best its hard to dispute (since in fantasy archery is related to dexterity). So it is logical that they would be the most skilled with swords, even if it could be said that the opinions ab...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Design Flaws & Match-Ups

I hope I am wrong. But it does seem very much like dunefolk act as a kind of "blank check" 7th faction predestined to be inserted into default era at a latter date, only because they were so prematurely mainlined over a dozen years ago. Personally I think you are free to develop your era, first of ...

Re: Dunefolk Rework - Changes In Unit Lines & Base Units

Visually, the Swordsman line gave the faction a dose of that arabian nights feel, more adventurous; the new sprites are more bulky, with a military feel, and maybe some of the flavor was lost there. This is not purely art-related - it's also due to the new swordsman line having a more prominent shi...
