Re: Best and Worst MAINLINE campaigns and scenarios

Worst campaign= Northern Rebirth. Best campaign= Son of Black Eye or The Rise of Wesnoth. But who's to say? To each their own. So instead of best/worst scenario, I'll just list the ones I found the most challenging/memorable. And the fact I remember these particular few is a testament to their creat...

Re: [interface]Recruit bar

yes i know that. The aim of a recruit bar would be to always have a sort of recruit dialog open. With it you should be able to just hit "3" and the unit is recruited^^ Okay, I now understand what you mean  Although, having an ever present recruit bar might not be a good thing? If yo...

Re: [interface]Recruit bar

Also, and I'm not sure if this is a better/faster way to recruit units, but once you have the recruit dialogue box open, you can simply press the number associated with the unit you'd like to recruit and then enter. For instance, if you have three recruit-able units to choose from, and say a Spearma...

Re: Books discussion

I just finished Babbitt by Sinclair Lewis (1922). It takes place in 1920, in a fictional mid-western city in America, (during prohibition, the roaring twenties, etc). It's basically about this opportunistic realtor/businessman struggling to find meaning in his life. You might think you'd hate this g...

Re: Crow's Artwork (was "new" unit idea: golem)

I'm not an art critic or anything, but I think the king sprite looks awesome. Cheers! Edit 6/6/13: @Crow_T, thanks for posting the base frame. I've added a few animation frames to the King sprite. I know they are not perfect viewed individually. But I will say they look pretty cool in game. In my UM...

Re: Do you save and reload? If so, why?

When I first started playing I save/reloaded quite often (which is what you might expect), but now, I don't save/reload much at all. I think people's habits change over time. I use to just rush every unit into battle without considering time of day, terrain, etc, but now my turns are more thought ou...

Re: Scenario Review: NR 4 - Clearing the Mines

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Easy (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 5- not terribly difficult, but a lot of enemy units. (3) How clear did you find the scenario objectives? Very clear (4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline...

Re: What do you find to be the worst unit in the default era

I'm going to go out on a limb here... I think (at least one of the worst units) is the thief. Maybe it's me, but I can't keep these units alive, because they're so weak. They have low HP and cannot do much attack damage. Because of this they're easy pickings for the enemy. And why doesn't the thief ...

Re: My first Campaign

Nice idea for the repeating fire thunder stick. Since you're asking for help with artwork, you should have probably posted this in the Art Workshop. But instead of double-posting (if you haven't already), you should PM one of the moderators and ask them to move this thread. But I'm not exactly sure ...

Re: SP campaign: Galuldur's First Journey (1.8, 1.9, 1.10)

Hi mattsc, I just wanted to say I was really impressed with this campaign. Job well done. I've tried a half dozen or so other umc's, but this one is my favorite so far (it's the only one I've completed straight through thus far). Actually, a friend recommended Galuldur to me to try. Overall, I thoug...

Re: Next Gen Bosses

I definitely like the idea of next gen bosses with special abilities, but one thing that should be considered is the hated tomato surprise. This could lead to a lot of frustration and save-reloads. The bosses's special ability shouldn't be a kept a secret from the player. I suppose you could provide...

Re: Next Gen Bosses

The question is how do you define a sub-boss? Wouldn't a sub-boss be considered just another enemy leader or unit? I suppose you could consider the following an example of a reoccurring sub-boss in Under the Burning Suns. It's the Cloaked Assassin. He appears once on three separate scenarios. He is ...
