Re: I need advice on my computer's configuration

Before you buy new RAM, also check out the spec for the motherboard to see if the manufacturer is recommending specific RAM models. Those will have been tested with the motherboard.

Re: Female Wesnoth - Elves Misconceptions

Now that I look at your sprite comparisons, the male armor has highlights on the chest as well - I guess it's the small scale of the sprites that put me on the wrong track with my comment.

Re: Elvish Fighter - Female Variants

For making a sprite female, make the shoulders narrower and widen the hips?

Half-undressing them and giving them boob armor does not make sense, because nobody in their right mind would want to wear that sort of garb in battle and get killed ;)

Re: Wesnoth Go Kart for STK

I think that would be difficult to do, because Wesnoth doesn't have a mascot.

Re: Building an alternative to ActionWML

"nand" and "nor" are well-defined terms with associated truth tables, so they make it really clear what they mean. Of course, the lay(wo)man will have to look them up on Wikipedia or something.

Re: Building an alternative to ActionWML

In my opinion, alternatives are good if they can be equivalent. I'd also love to use ruby rather than lua; and I am sure python folks love to use python rather than lua too. ;) But I think all of this could happen in the long run. What may be useful is to document all of WML even better, perhaps wo...

Re: Did you succesfully solve transparency problem with SDL2?

I have never written a back-end for this either, but you could have a look at the Widelands code. Start from https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~widelands-dev/widelands/trunk/view/head:/src/graphic/playercolor.cc#L31 and use an IDE to dig through the control flow. There might be some shaders involved in t...

Re: BT attempts portraiting

Not sure why this feels off
I think everything above the waist looks great - the lower part doesn't fit the upper part. Must be a perspective thing or something. Also, the rear of the thigh looks weird. The lines of the arm could also be a bit less straight.

Re: Wesnoth 1.14.4

Would a git submodule be a good idea? It would make the download smaller. If that's too complicated for the development setup, forget that I said anything.

Re: Ascension: Developing your factions

Regarding the lack of tooltips on mobile devices, maybe there could be a query button somewhere? Hit the button and then hit the coordinates on the map -> tooltip text.

And the best of luck to you with the job hunting once you finish your PhD :)

Re: Non-breaking spaces in the unit help page

If a language has a space, it can also have a non-breaking space.

Non-breaking spaces in source strings can be easily missed by translators, leading to mistakes. So, a code solution would probably be better.

Re: Non-breaking spaces in the unit help page

Maybe you can do a string replace programmatically? theoretical, translations of individual alignments could contain whitespace too and so does "Required XP:", so you might want to repace all whitespace with non-breaking space after fetching the translations. Also, make sure that the UI is wide enou...

Re: Non-breaking spaces in the unit help page

Chinese script doesn't use spaces - I don't know if it would be a problem in this case though, because I don't speak Chinese.

Re: Introduce yourself here!

You could help him out by making him create a forum account so he can ask for advice in the right forum parts. One needs to be at least 13 years old for a forum account IIRC. Oops. Then better ask in his stead. ._. Not true - he needs parental consent. It might be a good idea to ask for him anyway ...

Re: Unit genders

I prefer var 2, it's more distinguishable from the male variant.

The male shaman needs more natural looking legs, they are too straight.

Thanks for taking this on :)
