Re: Letter Object with customized Message

I think what he had in mind was something more like the popup you get when an object is added, but with a "theme" that makes it look like an actual scroll. At least, that's what it sounded like to me. I guess that describes in another Way the Result aside of I didn't specify its Implementation resp...

Hmm, OK, that would be handy to have, I guess.

Re: Letter Object with customized Message

For StoryLine it's useful if there is a Way to draw Text (eg. with custom Fonts like Dwarf-Runes or an Elvish Font) on a virtual Letter and as StoryEvent, when a Herald handle the Letter (or Scroll) then a Letter / Scroll gets displayed with arbitrary Messages inside. Just a simple but useful Story...

Re: Scenario Review - EI: Lake Vrug

(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? 1.9.x easy, 1.10.3 easy (somewhat over a year apart; I remembered very little from the previous run). (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 8. It's very difficult to predict enemy positions, and unfortunately rather important...

Re: Scenario Review: THoT 12 - The Underlevels

So, I've played this twice, once about a year ago (I wanna say 1.9.3?) and again about two weeks ago (1.10.3); I would have expected the second run to be quite smooth, but I'd forgotten a surprising amount by that point. (1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? Easy (2) How diffic...

Re: Best and Worst MAINLINE campaigns and scenarios

My favorite campaign is definitely UtBS. It hits the sweet spot of difficulty and scale, and it has an awesome storyline. I get to kill a false god? Sign me up! 8) I dislike DiD and SotBE, because I just have trouble sympathizing with the protagonists. Like, at all. They're probably great campaigns ...

Re: From decent to awesome: using expendable units?

Thanks for the advice so far, guys! Play a campaign with few or no healers, limit autosaves to 1 and you get rid of this bad habit in an instant (or you give up playing frustrated). It would help not to rename units or do other things that build attachment. To use recalls less often and to keep recr...

From decent to awesome: using expendable units?

I have a bit of a mania in campaigns: I never let units die, with the occasional exception of low-XP level 1 units. Unfortunately, any reasonable campaign is likely to have some level of attrition, which means I have to save-scum, micro-manage risk with calculations, and attempt the same turn multip...

Re: Wesnoth User Made Content IDE [2.0.1]

If you have just used the auto-update mechanism, and after the restart the IDE doesn't start anymore, then you can use a simple script to fix it. Just go to the download page (http://eclipse.wesnoth.org/download.html) and download the "Post-Update fix" script for your Operating System and execute i...

Re: Wesnoth Eclipse User Made Content Plugin [2.0.0]

I decided to upgrade to 2.0.0, but had no end of trouble getting it to work in Eclipse 3.8 (it silently errored out in all kinds of stupid ways), so I finally gave up and installed the standalone version. Which works fine so far, except that WML tools no longer have any UI accessible. What's up with...

Re: Wesnoth Eclipse User Made Content Plugin [2.0.0]

Regarding the mainline campaigns, I though together with fendrin that so few people (close to 0) would import the mainline, that I entirely dropped that question :) Importing all the main-line was actually very helpful for me when I started learning WML a few weeks ago. I remembered what scenarios ...

Re: tuggyne's WML questions

Comparing this to another MP scenario I made with functioning AI parameters, I wonder if the problem is simply that [side]s with allow_player=yes ignore any AI parameters they're passed -- which would, to say the least, be somewhat suboptimal!

tuggyne's WML questions

Edit: changed thread title accordingly I've been trying to pass AI parameters to MP sides that can be either human or AI-controlled, but my approaches so far haven't worked reliably. The first was something like this: [ai] village_value=0.25 aggression=0.1 caution=1.0 grouping=defensive recruitment...

Re: Wesnoth Eclipse User Made Content Plugin

So you are saying this is an issue of --preprocess? Maybe make a new thread and link it here, I may help you. Anyway, if the preprocessor doesn't output anything, then your WML must be broken. Check for errors in the stderr/output. Indeed it was. Heh, I had just managed to figure that out and was c...

Re: Wesnoth Eclipse User Made Content Plugin

I tried that, but nothing seems to happen to the generated files (they stay blank, or absent from the filesystem, or whatever state they were before). Also, after my previous post, I looked up the wesnoth.exe --preprocess parameter, and tried various command lines to try to make it work manually. Ho...
