Re: Ghosts - I only seem to get ghosts

Ghosts aren't really a good front-line meat, and you need that in Wesnoth to commence a successful assault (by meat I mean high damage/good hp like ghoul, adept or axe skeleton). They do create a very good distraction, however. Especially against Knalgans. One more thing you have to grant them is t...

Re: Wesnoth Mythology and Folklore Club

In Odysseus' defense, though, did he know that Polyphemus was Poseidon's son? As for the act of piracy, Thucydides argues in The Peloponnesian War, Book I , Chapter 5 that all the early Greeks were pirates, so Homer probably saw nothing wrong with Odysseus' behavior on that occasion. I'm not saying...

Re: Long live democracy

Yes, our ancestors were imperialistic. They fit the definition perfectly. You see, the paradox here is that you cannot accept that US is a country like any other. I don't support imperialistic ideologies, but I understand that this is how the world works. Every big country that can extend its power...

Re: Long live democracy

I think you didn't get my point. When I say society could collapse, the mechanism is not some god or universal judge punishing individual transgressions. Everywhere there is and there was murderers, robbers, incestuous people and so on, and societies can live with it as long as this is not a widely...

Re: Boldek's art dump: (Sergeant! not Johnson)

Here's a look at the sergeant, but somehow, he looks smaller and puny compared to the private: Suggestions? I think it's the very flat hat. Maybe make his head a little bigger, and he might look better. You should make him a bit taller too, so he appears more important. Aha. I tried both suggestion...

Re: Long live democracy

FDR, who is a celebrated president of the USA and was president during WWII married his own cousin, yet you say that such a thing would cause society to collapse (and then there's Genesis, if you believe that). In the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands and thousands of civilians have been kill...

Re: Crimson Sea [campaign storyline]

Is this the city in fear of the demons?

I like your reference as the undead like an ocean. It's pretty poetic. 8)

p.s: This won't help with the plot, but I thought of a combat mechanism. Maybe you could have mages stand at certain tower spots to sort of man magical artilery spots?

Re: Long live democracy

That isn't and never has been my argument. "Everybody" isn't willing to do it, some people are. And the whole "make the world a better place" is very subjective. We thing of those people as incredibly evil people because we have been raised with a particular set of moral values, but do you think th...

Re: Long live democracy

Democracy was evolving since ancient greece. I mean, the percent of greek population (well, it depends on the state) allowed to vote wasn't that low compared to the first american system and during french revolution. It took a while to give voting rights to literally every adult. Sure, Declaration ...
