Re: Too many campaingns have you fighting orcs/undead.

When you're all chatting about good and evil, law and chaos, light and darkness, you should think about the alignments in D&D. It is perfect there, lawful and chaotic alignments are not related with Good and Evil. According to this, nothing would be inherently evil, except necromancers (who are evi...

Re: Too many campaingns have you fighting orcs/undead.

neither I nor any other human are qualified to define evil Than how do you determine if someone is good, if there is not an opposite? How is the Paladin qualified to battle undead if we cannot trust his integrity? Would if the person you send out to slay undead is really a necromancer himself? How ...

Re: Zerovirus's Art

Need some baddies for a campaign? Writing a faction involving eldritch or mutagenic forces? Want to surprise those who play your UMC? Look no longer! Now, with the Mutant Spearman, you can really give your players a surprise! Set them up in a custom faction as a bait-and-switch normal spearman whic...

Re: New campaign, im new, help

The way I got started may not be the best, but what I did was copied a campaign folder, gutted it of everything except what I wanted (the main_cfg, the first scenario, all the folders) and then I simply rewrote the names and dialogues to fit my story. I leaned way too much on copy and pasting, so do...

Re: Too many campaingns have you fighting orcs/undead.

As always, the winners write the history.. even today guys like Caesar, Alexander the Great or even Napeoleon are seen as shining heros altough they slaughtered hundreds. In real life, there are no Heros or Villains, but The Battle for Wesnoth is mainly told by Humans and Elves, and of course they ...

Re: Too many campaingns have you fighting orcs/undead.

I think Descent into Darkness demonstrates that the Undead are not "mindless carcasses bent only on destroying all living things" quite effectively. Malin may have not been, but there wasn't very much character structure for his minions. He saw himself as a hero in a tight corner, and what came out...

Re: Do you save and reload? If so, why?

Oh yes, definitely. Several days ago, I decided to give up save reloading all together, and it really makes the game more fun and challenging. Before, my mindset was more like 'JUST, GOTTA, WIN!!!', and it did neither help in mp or in sp. By removing that sense of power, I felt more challenged and m...

Re: Just Found This on Reddit: Interesting?

It's kind of creepy in a way to think that someone takes pictures of your posts and then puts them up on a website somewhere. I guess I didn't get the joke though.

Re: Dark Magic Users: Always Evil?

Aw man, do I smell flame war. Guys. If you read the bible, there's a part were a witch raised a ghost that foretold someone's death. That's different. The point of having a guy clutching a skull with spooky purple smoke coming out of his staff is to show them as mad scientists who are generic villai...

Stealth overlay

Okay, generally all my ideas aren't very clever, but I came up with something I think could actually benefit wesnoth this time. (don't they all?) Any way, I haven't downloaded the 1.10 series just yet, so if this is already implemented, I suppose I am just wasting your time, but my idea is to create...

Re: Do you save and reload? If so, why?

I try not to save and reload too much, but mostly when a key unit gets jumped. Or when it would be impossible to save a certain unit after an attack.
