Re: 1.9.1 over prev 1.8.4 dir

When I first started the game the title screen (the "Battle for Wesnoth" letters) that pans across the screen was extremely slow, Same thing here (with linux). btw, this can be turned off in the Advanced Options. I then went and turned off animated map. The performance of animated terrains has impr...

Re: Onslaught - Version 1.7.0.

Can Wesnoth be used as a(n) evangelization/propagandistic tool? Yes, it can. In both senses of the word. This is free software, after all. I suspect the question you want to ask is "Can add-ons.wesnoth.org be used as an evangelization/propagandistic tool?", which is an entirely different question. ...

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.8 - 14 scenarios complete

I concede that the bit with Cat's bodyguards is a surprise, but how is it a tomato surprise? That is, how would it cause you to play the game differently, now that you know what's coming? Because, I now know not to attack her with bats (unless i happen to have a couple of strong blood bats, at nigh...

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.8 - 14 scenarios complete

Making the rats able to move in deep water would make the sewer part of scenario 5 a significantly different affair though; especially crossing the south part of the bridge would be much more dangerous with the rats able to fight 3 to 1 or more. When i said rats were not much a threat i was working ...

That's the Unit List, i guess. It's supposed be alt+u though, not just 'u' by itself.

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.8 - 14 scenarios complete

It's not quite clear why that part of the map would be visible while the upper part is hidden. There's no actual reason. Just to watch the guards running around getting bopped. I guess if people are bothered by it, I'll fix it ... Maybe make the traps in the south chamber more lethal, then. I think...

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.8 - 14 scenarios complete

[*] I'll fix the traps so they will kill properly in the next update. On the other hand, it may be too harsh to kill Clammie in the north chamber if he fails to follow Kennison's steps... [*] It is very possible to accidentally close your own unit inside a wall, (especially with the third secret pa...

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.8 - 14 scenarios complete

The new version of "It takes a Swampling" is much better. There is a couple of minor issues, though: the traps will let hitpoints dip into the negatives without killing the unit. closing a passage probably ought to kill any unit standing on its hex(es) (or maybe only move it out of the way). the sou...

Re: Need help with English?

In my opinion the comma is unnecesarry, and I for one would not correct something so small; adding or removing it does not change the meaning of the sentence. Maybe you are correct that the comma is not needed in english but, to this french native speaker at least, it really begged for it. It is mu...

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.7 - 16 scenarios complete

Fixed. It is rather surprising that the scenario loads with a space in the filename, since there is no space in the next_scenario= key in Meet Mr Blydd. That's because the game doesn't use the filenames at all, it just loads all the .cfg and uses the id= it find there. So, in theory you could give ...

Re: Swamplings - v1.0.7 - 16 scenarios complete

The file for "The Ruins Of Xaffrasz" is named "13_The_Ruins_Of_ Xaffrasz.cfg", with a whitespace between "Of_" and "Xaffrasz". While not an error in itself, whitespaces in filenames are generally frowned upon by linuxers because it gets in the way of easy (but buggy) shell scripting. Also, the unit ...
