Re: Wesnoth and Religion

As a fairly spiritual person myself, I think having NRiW serves an interesting role in distancing Wesnoth from the real world. To be honest, Wesnoth is a pretty generic western post-Tolkien fantasy setting, and giving them a Crystal Dragon Jesus religion just brings it more in line with the mainstre...

Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?

You're right. I've put one paragraph between spoiler tags. :) Cool, thanks. It left a too preachy aftertaste for my liking. It's not necessarily a problem if filmmakers want to make a point but, unlike for example movies by Alex Jones, this movie 'presents itself' as a fairy tale/horror film but it...

Re: Battle for Wesnoth in the Digital Man Competition

Gave the votes to Wesnoth. Well, all but Best World. That one I gave to Warzone 2100. Because, let's face it, Wesnoth's setting isn't all that original. True, but it's much more developed, through art, campaigns, and lore, than any of the others (as far as I know). I voted for BfW for everything ex...

Re: What [graphics editing] programs do you use?

GIMP is great for what I use it for (texturing), and the filters make life a lot easier, but I know nothing of spriting.

Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?

@norbert: Well gee, thanks for giving away the ending. :P I personally didn't like the pro-life message this movie has. Why's that? Do you disagree with the way it was presented, do you disagree with filmmakers trying to make a point with their work, or do you disagree with the message itself (or so...

Re: Song for the day.

Maybe there's something about notoriety that increases divorce, or just the kind of people who have a burning urge to become famous are also the kind of people more likely to have bad marriages. It seems actors have it just as bad if not worse. Anyway, to bring it back to the original topic, song of...

Re: What is everyone's favorite movie at the moment?

My favorite movie thus far is an Asian flick (live action, not anime) called Gwai Wik , or The Re-cycle . It's a Pang Brothers film, so it's got some serious Hong-Kong-horror-style elements, but with a heavy scoop of crazy dreamworld visuals a la What Dreams May Come . I like the kind of imaginative...

Re: A Hopefully Non-Sexist Survey

*Reporting in as a dude.* Shadoemaster you forgot the 3rd gender while making the pole :P There are a lot more than three, according to some people. :P There are some females that come around every now and again. Kitty is one, for example. It might just be my imagination, but the art topics seem to ...

Re: A Hopefully Non-Sexist Survey

Actually, about 2/3 of online gamers are women, statistically speaking. I've heard it varies by genre, though. I did a report a while back on online gaming as it relates to nonverbal communication, and I seem to recall that the statistics favor females in MMORPGs and so-called "casual" games, while...

Re: Era of Magic: Ancient Dwarves

Allow me to make a few suggestions, if I may. MECHANIC Recruited, these dwarves have an uncanny knack for engineering. This sentence is very unclear to me. Do you mean they're recruited because of their uncanny knack for engineering? If their robotic creations are at the head of an offense, then the...

Re: Glest Advanced Engine

I just started playing this game about a month ago. I really enjoy playing it. I was rather disappointed that it didn't have a map editor/maker for mac and that the recent releases haven't been for mac, but maybe one day... All of the source is available and there has been success in compiling olde...

Glest Advanced Engine

I'm sure many of you are at least somewhat familiar with the free, open-source, 3D, real-time strategy game Glest. In case you're not, I'm including a link and some screenshots below. What you may not know about is the Glest Advanced Engine (GAE) currently under development. This project has already...

Re: How do Saurians move?

Their short limbs and bent-over posture makes it seem like they'd have a pretty wide gait, and they seem like they would probably be capable of running on all fours if their hands were empty.

Re: What do levels mean?

For 0 and 1, I agree completely. Level 2 is where I start to see things differently. If you look at examples of level 2 units, they're not exactly that heroic to me. For the Loyalists, for example, their level 2 units are swordsmen, pikemen, knights, etc. These are troops who stand out above the reg...
