Re: Where does this evolution of sprites lead?
I admit I've glossed over some posts, but about your numbers, Dugi, you have to keep in mind that, aside from the exceptionnal scorpion and dragons, all the other replaced baseframes have been replaced because they have one thing in common, they ride horses. It's the horses that have been changed. T...

Re: how long will this game survive?
By the way, I didn't mean to sound pendantic or anything. If I did, it wasn't intended
And it is true I didn't think of the long-time-unregistered-Mp-player possibility.

iceiceice: You've only been around for a handful of months, don't take some slowing down in any area to be an indicative of the project crashing. I've been around for a few years and I can tell you (as probably can a lot of other people who have been around even longer) that people come and go when ...

Re: Will be Wesnoth forever 2D-only?
The title is very clear. Wesnoth will evolve? I mean Wesnoth has not changed much in recent years (I mean the graphics perspective). For the sake of exactitude, I just want to point how wrong this opening statement is. Wesnoth's graphics have evolved TONS in recent years. Sure, maybe the graphics e...

Re: why do we need 2 random generators?
Well I wouldn't be against the game being more deterministic, seeing how a while back I tried creating a mod that would prevent save-loading. But I could imagine how many people would be against it.

IIRC, a round is ~6 seconds, so 1d4 rounds means between ~6 and ~32 seconds.Naron wrote: ... another mind shard are formed in 1d4 rounds (what is this? 4 minutes ?).

Re: Questions about D&D.
IIRC, that CR 25 thing at the start means it should be a decent but not overly hard challenge for a group of 5 (or was it 4?) lv 25 adventurers. Level 25 is quite advanced (standard heroes cap at lv 20), but it isn't overly epic either.

Re: Hacker Faction
Some other (possibly very OP) hacker ideas: Create villages; Heal in castles; Recruit from somewhere else than a keep; Control other players' units; Have 100% chance-to-hit attacks; Steal exp from enemy units; Disregard terrain restrictions (move and defense); Have a new, different damage type no en...

Re: Questions about D&D.
I will be tangentially off-topic here, but so be it. I always thought D&D had too many rules, too many numbers, die rolls and complicated tables. In effect, it restricts more the players' freedom that it allows it because it tries to cover everything too much. I much prefer systems such as White...

Re: Are Halflings/Hobbits in the world of Wesnoth?
An interesting UMC had a halfling faction which was made up of mostly LV0s, so it had a different gameplay as such.
EDIT:
Here is the faction

Re: Are Halflings/Hobbits in the world of Wesnoth?
On the topic of being creative with fantasy races, I find Lovecraft to be greatly inspiring. Documentaries on animals and plant life are also good places to get ideas; the oceanic depths are especially otherworldly (I seem to recall reading somewhere that oceanic depths had been one of Lovecraft's s...

Re: Drake Society
First of all, I think separating factions by races is a mistake, but not as big a msitake as forcing a leader/mage/healer/etc. faction design on every faction. Often, the lack of something is what I think gives a faction flavor. But I'll humor you. I think drakes would worship fire, seeing how it is...
