The fire and smoke are merely secondary effects of the explosive powder discharging a small projectile at great velocities. While it may appear to be a fire-based weapon, I assure you the ball coming out of that muzzle will deal damage much more akin to bludgeoning or piercing damage.

It's a gun.

As for dark elves... what do you mean by dark elves? Are they like drow? Warhammer dark elves? Or are they something completely different?

I hate fighting ghosts and orcish pillagers, but I think my favorite is probably the Silver Mage. Silver Mages are awesome.

Nagas are fun, but I like merfolk. You have to think very differently when using them because former barriers are your roads, and former roads are now complete barriers.

None of the units in Wesnoth actually 'fly' according to the game.

Drakes, gryphons, bats, and ghosts all have very low move costs coupled with generally high move scores. The game does not discriminate between flying and non-flying units, so it's impossible to have terrain that does this.
