Re: random from variable range -- solved

You mean the import order is important? (can hardly believe it, but well...)
Thanks for the info.

EDIT: tried, works fine, thank you again :)

Re: random from variable range -- solved

Hello all, it works! Here is the present macro: # test help mode for diff healing: units start with XP! #define EXP_RECRUIT {DEBUG_MSG "exp recruit macro"} [event] name=prerecruit first_time_only=no {VARIABLE exp_max $unit.max_experience} {VARIABLE_OP exp_max add -1} {VARIABLE exp_min $unit.max_expe...

Re: random from variable range -- and random error message

Hello, now I know WML is haunted. Wanted to explore a bit based upon your constructive hints. In order to be able to isolate the source of behaviour differences, I decided to do one single change at a time -- even if each trial takes so long (this would be topic for a later thread). So I changed {VA...

Re: random from variable range

@exasperation: Sorry, I was answering the post by Pentarctagon when you posted your reply. They're trying to set exp_min to 11 less than exp_max. And on that note, are you using 1.7? In 1.6, you'll need to use {VARIABLE_OP exp_min add -11} instead of {VARIABLE_OP exp_min sub 11} ! I'm using 1.6 for ...

Re: random from variable range

try using x,y=$x1,$y1 in the {FLOATING_TEXT} macro. Thank you for this hint, I'll try. Still, why doesn't $unit.x work (actually, it's the same as $x1, or should be)? also, aren't you setting exp_min and exp_max to the same value? Yep, on first line! But then it's sub-ed on next line. Couldn't find...

random from variable range

Hello, Wanted to give recruited units a startup exp using the following: # units start with XP! [event] name=prerecruit first_time_only=no {VARIABLE exp_max $unit.type.experience} {VARIABLE exp_min $unit.type.experience} {VARIABLE_OP exp_min sub 11} {DEBUG_MSG "exp range: $exp_min .. $exp_max"} [set...

"differential" healing when a unit levels up

I'm aware this feature has been discussed already (numerous times, probably); but I could not find any reference to the alternate "differential" healing principle proposed below. status When promoted to a higher level, a unit heals in addition to becoming more powerful. Not only this, but it heals f...
