Re: "Special choice" of faction
I wouldn't mind a "hide all faction choices" or "show all ..." for instance. Then again the subject has been discussed to death and back. Still I frankly wouldn't call it "balanced". Specially when it has been mentioned that chosing Random is supposed to be advantageous...

Re: Dwarven Max Levels
If the a unit doesn't have any more advances available (only AMLA ) then it's experience bar will be purple (instead of light blue). If that unit has not gained any experience (empty bar), you can look at the right panel while mousing over/selecting that unit, the current/required experience numbers...

Re: How do you use Fencer ?
If an unfavorable ToD is coming for your opponent and he is retreating, using a fencer to move around and behind one of his retreating units may be a good idea, although there is the possibility you may loose the fencer. You can zoc him so that he can do nothing but move toward your forces, separat...

Re: Reduce Luck
The game is not only about killing units. When learning to play Wesnoth, it is easy to miss the real goal of the game. You need to make efficient use of your resources (gold/units) to reduce the resources your opponent has (by killing units/stealing villages) or to kill the opponent's leader. If one...

Re: where do you rate yourself as a Wesnoth player?
Somewhere between 5 and 6. 7 on a good day, with the wind behind me. I find it quite hilarious to read some of the peoples' self-ratings in this thread. Dunning-Kruger effect ftw. If you're gonna go there, then lets be objective: Wins/Losses: 19/55 Win ratio: 26% Elo rating: 1381 When I play I have...

Re: Suggestion about grid engine
How about starting with loading one PNG and displaying it inside a window. Then displaying several images at different locations. Probably create a function/object that allow to take any one image and draw it anywhere on the windows. With this you can use Wesnoth's own terrain/units/etc in your prog...

Re: Open Source and Capitalism
Excesive use of legal means to make the software industry ever more profitable will just hurt us all in the long run. It's simply crazy that big companies accumulate patents as legal ammo to shoot their competition down. They are basically abusing the flaws in the system. I wish these laws actually ...

Re: Open Source and Capitalism
In any case, the traditional model of selling software as products won't do. When the product can be easily obtained for free, it's kinda hard to convince someone to pay for it. Not to underplay the challenge, but piracy and open-source alternatives, haven't quite killed commercial software yet. In...

Re: Open Source and Capitalism
I want to believe that these two concepts are not incompatible. But it is hard imagining a real world integration of both concepts, such that the creators get rewarded for their efforts and users to pay for software they like. In any case, the traditional model of selling software as products won't ...

I think what you need is to increase the "Hardness" of the brush (to max probably). Or maybe select a non-fuzzy brush.

Re: where do you rate yourself as a Wesnoth player?
Well, since we're doing it by faction now: Drakes: 5 Elves: ? Knalgans: ? Loyalists: ? Northerners: ? Undead: ? LOL Well, since I always play drakes I'll post "me vs ..." scores: Drakes: 3 (I prefer asking for remake XD when someone randoms drakes) Elves: 5 Knalgans: 5 Loys (hate them :P):...

Re: Planning system/Whiteboard feedback
Something I noticed right away is that it is not possible to see the reachable hexes for the ghosted units. I do this all the time with "delay shroud updates": move, mouseover unit, press '2' key, see reachable hexes. This lets me see the reachable hexes for the next turn. But I cannot pla...

Re: where do you rate yourself as a Wesnoth player?
Yes, I too tend to charge in with my leader (with similar results), partly because I want my leader to be the highest ranking unit I own (silly) and partly because I just play very aggressively. And I'm always to overly cautious and protective of my leader... gee, it's hard to find that middle bala...

I'm just that awesome.shadowmaster wrote:How the hell did you get there anyway?

Long story short, bounce on enemies to reach the higher ledges (hint: press down). I spat an enemy up there also I could carry him all the way up.

Re: Frogatto 1.0.2
Good platforming fun, me likes. Frogatto's different expressions during dialog is a pretty cool idea. Great animations for each one too. I'll continue playing and give my complete opinion later on. frogatto_youre_not_supposed_to_be_here.png But I like exploring every nook and cranny. :lol2: Speciall...
