Re: P2P random numbers

Generating on server is secure and is faster than generating them using a P2P protocol (as network latency >> generation time) Either "faster" is a typo for "slower", or ">>" is a typo for "<<". Given the rest of your post, I assume the latter. It's not so much that network latency < generation tim...

Re: Kalifa facelift

Be careful not to follow any reference photo of birds with outstretched wings too closely. Perspective distorts photographs of wings a fair bit.

The elder falcon still looks a bit wrong - it looks as if the far wing is larger than the near wing.

It's not so much "copied" as just "its location doesn't change", afaik.

Re: Hulavuta's Rants

I dunno. What do you feel about stuff like "cue"/"queue"? "for all intents and purposes"/"for all intensive purposes"? In my childhood, I read books (that had been carefully vetted by editors) more than anything else, so identifying which one's the right one is really simple for me, but not everyone...

Re: Hulavuta's Rants

I often say "lol" out loud (as one syllable, not as an initialism), usually to be funny. What do you feel about that? ;)

Re: P2P random numbers

A chooses a random number X in given range A sends F(X) to B B chooses a random number Y in given range B sends Y to A A sends X to B B verifies that the previously received F(X) was correct the random number is R = (X + Y) mod range Note that "given range" in Villiam's cryptosystem above should be...

To be exact, the userdata is nearly always in ~/Library/Application Support/[app name]/

Also, I'm concerned that you took enough effort to type "great where can i get one or is it http://lmgtfy.com/" but not to actually Google it. Why?

Re: New Website Idea

There are methods of inviting a user to IRC without getting them to install anything.

Refer to the lower right area of: http://wz2100.net/ - it offers a simple way to join IRC.

Re: [Request]Karma-ish luck system

I concede that if you really wanted a karma system that extended between attacks, this one is probably as good as it gets. However, I emphasize one last time that that doesn't mean that this proposal is good; merely that all karma systems are bad and should be disregarded entirely, and MDE should be...

Re: Wesnoth MP servers

The really annoying part is when people play singleplayer (i.e. everyone else is an AI) games with observers disabled. The server simply shouldn't publish those games. :(

Re: [Request]Reduce RNG influence

Yeah, you're right. It's a valid example.

My point still stands that it doesn't happen with games major enough for Wikipedia articles. :P

Plus, TAO implements the karma system at least a bit simpler than some of the proposals I'm seeing here.

Re: [Request]Reduce RNG influence

Well, then. The system is poorly documented, and the game is probably fairly obscure. I guess when I said "no games", I mean "no major games". There's no accounting for lack of game design talent in obscure game developers.

I did. It doesn't say anything about that. Can you be more specific?
