Re: xdelta for osx binaries

Honestly, deltas usually aren't even necessary - all you'd need to do is just not update the music/image files, and you'd save nearly as much space. For minor releases, usually the only things that get updated are the executable binaries, and I'm willing to bet they're pretty small.

Re: A Hopefully Non-Sexist Survey

For reference, the term was "gender" and not "sex"

So perhaps we have other people who are biologically female but transgender! :P

Re: Is 0.9 recurring equal to 1?

Here, I will use 0.9~ to denote "0.9 recurring". I have a very simple proof that 0.9 recurring is not the same as 1 On your next math test, when the answer is 1 you should write instead "0.9 recurring" I have a very simple proof that 54+3 is not the same as 57 On your next math test, when the answer...

Re: iPhone port, Episode 3

http://www.fsf.org/news/2010-05-app-store-compliance/ Yeah, I mentioned this on the IRC channel (edit: and apparently there was a thread about it, according to shadowmaster's post below). Only Wesnoth contributors to 1.6 have standing to sue KylePoole. As long as they don't, he should be in the cle...

Re: Clang* Idea!

Or just use brand names and trademarks. Why should you let the copyright terrorists take away your freedom?

Re: Wesnoth for iPad

Is this even legal? Did every single contributor give the rights to his stuff of this OPEN SOURCE (?) project when he submitted them or something? Can you just sell software that includes the work of so many people without each and every one's written permission? Just curious cos it seems like a le...

Re: Clang* Idea!

Just reminding: no copyrighted stuff (IE for example) or the mods will bust this era. 1. Unless he includes a copy of IE with the game (which is unlikely) (and even then, it'd still be legal, since IE is free), there's no copyright law being violated. Perhaps you're thinking of trademark law? 2. Ev...

There isn't much nonstandard DRM in StarCraft II, only the removal of LAN games. (And I believe online activation.) Singleplayer can still be played offline.

I observe that Haley shows more midriff in her old outfit, and more cleavage in her new one.

Re: How do Saurians move?

You know, you could've said something like "like a monkey" in "bipedal-simian" - I doubt everyone knows what "simian" means.

It's possible that their movement is quadripedal, and they just stand up to fight?

Re: Ideas...

I'll give you that one... Although the morality is not as entirely black and white as Tolkien's world tended to be. Humans, elves and dwarves are often just as evil as your orcish opponents in some campaigns. (In fact it could be argued that they were more so since the actions actually opposed the ...

Correction: SC2 does not require a constant internet connection to play in singleplayer mode. It's not nearly as bad as, say, AC2.

Re: Ideas...

As a gamer, I understand that everything is LotR inspired and Wesnoth is no exception, but citing LotR as a primary inspiration for Wesnoth is about as well founded saying the sun is yellow. The sun is actually white, but yellow is the color that shows through the atmosphere... which is much like t...
