Re: Wesnoth population

It's also worth pointing out that goblins and orcs are the same species and are born in the same litters, according to the race descriptions. "Several" members of any litter are goblins, which suggests to me that goblins are more numerous than orcs (unless they die at an enormous rate).

Re: Sergeants and Lieutenant word misuse

If this were a thing that were going to get done, perhaps we're trying to change things from the wrong direction. A sensible advancement might be:

Lieutenant>Captain>General

Not that I've ever been bothered by the current setup.

Re: Liberty last level

Aw, come on guys! Revel in the sheer irrelevancy of it all! Buck up now, my fellow superfluity, and let's both be of that worthless ilk, self-indulgent as shooting stars, self-absorbed as sunsets. Who cares if we're inconsequential? At least we can revel, two good-for-nothings, in our irrelevance; ...

Re: Ancient Lich Development

There's something in the lore on this subject, perhaps in relation to tRoW and that island of the dead... though it's been a while so my memory may be slipping... but iirc elvish liches are at most extremely rare. That would fit with everything we know about elves in Wesnoth so far. Undeath would b...

Re: Khalifate Unit Descriptions

I think efficiency sounds fine, but you might also consider efficacy if you think it fits the flavor of the game world better. They both come almost directly from Latin, though--neither is modern.

Re: Wesnoth Magic Compendium

The Merfolk only gain a lightning attack through the use of Storm Tridents (which appear in several campaigns), which are clearly enchanted items of some sort, but whose origins are utterly unknown - each time they appear, they're just found floating around, with no further information about them. ...

Re: Do elves have red blood?

Their skin is the same hue as humans' (though paler), so their blood should be pretty much the same colour. If it was significantly different, it would make a difference in the skin hue. I'm not sure this is true. Humans have lots of different skin hues, but only one color of blood. I think giving ...

Look in Trunk, rather than 1.8. It's only in the development releases right now.

Beautiful. You can always do a mix--some designed to be generic, and some, like this one, specific to the campaign.

Re: Grunt Animation WIP for Open Animation Commission

For my money, the lighter one looks better--the motion of the sword better matches the motion of the arm, and he's strong enough to be able to heft it like that. The heavier one also looks like it could get in the way of his legs.

Re: Why are the Mermen deities?

It's kind of...cute... But every other race has a consistent style and consistent phonetics (at least, if you ignore campaign characters). Some sort of pseudo-Greco-Roman would fit their flavor, probably allow for some of the current names to stay, and reasonably encompass campaign character names l...

Re: Troll Hero

You know, I think what you did with the head actually makes a lot of sense. The forearm could maybe use the lengthening, but I think you've overdone it, and left too many signs of the old arm shape. Otherwise, I don't see an improvement.

TSI: this is looking awesome.

Re: Grunt Animation WIP for Open Animation Commission

I think the motion of the shoulders is just a little bit too much, and the lower arms definitely swing too far--they definitely move when you run, but they don't cross over the torso so much. The legs and overall angle of the body look very good to me--you can tell there's a lot of power behind the ...

Re: Shifting RTS paradigms -- brainstorming thread

Myth: The Fallen Lords and its sequel took a completely different approach to the genre by having no construction, resource gathering, or upgrading, and instead focusing entirely on unit balance and tactics. That may be farther from conventions than you're asking for though.
