Re: minotaur art suggestion/comments wanted

Um... you're using black borders lots of places in your sprites. This is distinctly different from Wesnothian style, and more generally, looks really weird. All of those black pixels mixed in with the fur don't look that good either, in my opinion. It also seems like you're shading each of the diffe...

Re: I made a faction every thing looks ok but...

Well, that's still not enough information. The most likely cause is a problem with your includes. To debug that, you need access to the entire folder structure of your add-on. Just zip the folder, and post it, and also tell us where you placed this folder (i.e. what directory it is in). If you're go...

Re: I made a faction every thing looks ok but...

Why don't you post your code so that we can actually look at it? Your post isn't specific enough for me to know what is wrong. Do you understand how the _main.cfg file works, and how macro includes work? Have you read PreprocessorRef ? What exact error messages are you getting (copy/paste the text p...

In fact, the last post of the debugging thread now directly addresses your exact situation!

Re: I've navigated the wiki and found nothing to help me.

The faction includes shouldn't be in the _main.cfg file. From what I understand, the [multiplayer_side] tag is properly placed inside an [era] tag. If you click on multiplayer_side in the reference list, it takes you to EraWML which confirms this. Do they actually work in the _main.cfg file? Did you...

Re: Getting charm to work and modifying it

This is pretty simple. First, lay out exactly what you want the ability to do. Next, find out exactly what charm does as it stands. Then, for each thing that's different, figure out how to change it by looking up the relevant tags on the wiki, and/or by looking at examples. For example: you want the...

Re: I've navigated the wiki and found nothing to help me.

Alright, there were plenty of things wrong with what you attached, some of which I pointed out in my post above. I've fixed it all up, and the new version is clean, and *should* work (I haven't tested it). Mistakes that you made: 1. You had customEra.cfg outside of the era folder. This is an old way...

Re: I've navigated the wiki and found nothing to help me.

_main.cfg is the only file that Wesnoth reads when it starts up. All of the other files that you want Wesnoth to know about thus have to be referenced from this file. The file usually does other housekeeping things, like defining a [campaign] if it's for a campaign. You're right that the BuildingFac...

Re: TSG Big Map

I'm open for renames for the 'Kerlath Hills, 'Heart River' and the Kerlath river. Names aren't given for them, there just there as filler at the moment. Can I get the Kerlath river named the River Alavynne (all the way up to where it meets the River Aethen)? Also, can I use this map when you're don...

Re: Wesnoth-TC: new tool for artists

Also, the TeamColorizer Python script in data/tools/unit_tree/ should (as of r38796) use the same algorithm as Wesnoth proper, and it also now supports picking a color instead of just red (you can even use custom colors if you want). If you're just looking for a command-line tool to use while spriti...

Re: More exposure for portraits (NOT on the sidebar)

I'd say this is probably possible in WML. Right-click option that when activated sends the user a message with a text input for the dialogue. I don't know if you can get the unit they're clicking on, but I think you can. Command WML after the message then sets a side turn event to post a message fro...

Re: Getting charm to work and modifying it

No, it most likely will not. In general, the latest unstable version (1.7.x) gets released as the next stable version (1.8 ), after all (okay, most) of the unstable parts get cleaned up. I'm pretty sure that we're in that phase right now, what with feature freezes and all, so 1.8 will be very simila...

Re: Drakes - some thoughts on Drake society, biologie and origin

in your "how much land do drakes need to live question" i'd have to say that you miss alot of potential food sources. they would hunt wild animals, (not raise sheep) all kinds of fish, maybe mermen, nagas and sea monsters, and maybe even the occaisonal gryphon that flew by. And they would make lunc...

Re: How to easily debug WML

Something that seems to be cropping up a lot recently: The game will crash with an error message about a missing closing tag. The line number will be randomly somewhere in the middle of your scenario. There won't be anything wrong on that line, and the tag named in the error will be properly closed....

Re: Hi, again, again, again...

It's extremely difficult, in many cases, to tell where the "real error position" is, relative to a missing closing tag. After all, there are many potential places where you could have closed that tag... However, since you're using 1.7, look at the *full* debugging output (on Windows, "stderr.txt" I ...
