Re: [event] name=sighted behavior

at least makes perfectly sense. I have a solution in mind and I'll try it. I think I'm still using store_unit because in an earlier version I needed the unit variable anyway since I didn't use [primary_unit] for the event to be fired. Yeah, what Sapient said was that even though/if you need the uni...

Re: Drakes - some thoughts on Drake society, biologie and origin

How about insular dwarfism? Drakes did originate on an island chain and left only because it was gradually sinking. Well yeah, that is basically the existing explanation. My argument is with the time scales involved... I didn't see any comments on that on the Wikipedia page, but in general, evoluti...

Re: [event] name=sighted behavior

I still disagree somewhat with silene's Big-O analysis and I think the [not]x,y,radius=a,b,c[/not] would be beneficial in the general case where {FILTER} is unknown, since it allows us to eliminate the re-processing of arbitrarily complex filters. Eh. I'm betting that the {FILTER} is fast, I guess....

Re: Some of my WML Experiments- New abilities-etc.

This is quite true, and it's a perennial issue here, because every new release, the documentation needs to be updated. Unfortunately, documentation takes a lot of time, and isn't very interesting. The result is that open source projects are generally under-documented. In this specific case, I don't ...

Re: Some of my WML Experiments- New abilities-etc.

This forum needs a sticky for ability and weapon special WML that users make. Or maybe put it on the wiki. The current spot for WML abilities on the wiki is hardly managed at all, though. There are certainly some out-of-date things on the wiki, but as was pointed out earlier when I suggested an add...

Re: [event] name=sighted behavior

Regarding point#1, I'd like to see your code just to be sure. If by this you're referring to your suggestion of excluding hexes already searched, didn't we just establish that that would actually be *slower* than the alternative in most cases? This was because the exclusion relies on running anothe...

Re: [event] name=sighted behavior

That's good information to have. 200ms is a very slight but noticeable delay, especially if it happens every time any unit moves, although I suppose that it's probably not noticeable relative to the time it takes the AI to compute the next move these days. Still, it'll be more for units with lots of...

Re: Banebow Portrait

This is a very minor nitpick, but bows are usually draw back past the ear. Also, the arrows should be the same color as bones, because they are made of bones. Minor in relation to the other stuff, but I feel that I should point this out: when doing archery, you normally draw to the cheek/chin (at l...

Re: Ability idea dump

Meh, pretty much anything is *possible*. I can think of ways to do all of those things, but they'd take quite a bit of WML to implement. In some cases, you wind up having to re-implement, in WML core game functionality, like an attack. But it definitely can be done. Basically, units can have events ...

http://www.wesnoth.org/macro-reference.xhtml Specifically, the MOVE_UNIT and QUAKE macros (there's also EARTHQUAKE...). If you just want screen-shaking, look at how those macros do it. Note that the MOVE_UNIT macro will break if the destination has a unit on it already. There should be a fixed versi...

Re: Problem with editing unit.

There are plenty of possibilities, but a simple search of your <userdata> directory ought to be able to tell you... (you might also want to check the <data> directory just in case). Presumably, the unit will be defined in a file with the same name as the one you edited. If not, you'll have to use mo...

Re: Why are there 20 of my Era in the drop-down list

Well... that was easy. The problem is this line in your _main.cfg:

Code: Select all

	{~add-ons/Era_of_Guilds}
I hope you can understand why that produces the observed behavior, having read the PreprocessorRef. If not, feel free to ask for an explanation.

Re: Why are there 20 of my Era in the drop-down list

AFAIK, this isn't a known or common problem. Good luck solving it (unless perhaps you'd like to post enough information for other people to look for solutions, like a zip of your era folder and a listing of the contents of your add-ons/ (or campaigns/) directory?).

Re: modifying Petrify (1.7.X)

meowreka: Read all of EventWML . Events are how most fancy stuff gets done in Wesnoth. You need to understand them if you want to do fancy things with the engine. In this case, pay special attention to the "turn end" event name (although I think that actually, "side turn" is better in this case, sin...
