Re: New idea...

Nice images! I like the fact that some look as if they could pass as using bronze and others iron, as I am looking for sprites and/or units suitable for use in factions (one Wesnoth "faction" per strategic unit type) based on Freeciv-type tech-trees where units buildable once you have iron...

Campaign bundle: Between the Worlds

Between the Worlds for 1.6.x has not been updated in some time and will not be. It is currently being developed for 1.8.x and is on the 1.8.x add-ons server. A post below mentions The "Princess Li'sar's viewpoint" experiment; that experiment is no longer an option. It is a bundle of campai...

Re: Changes to the gold carryover system in the campaigns

Couldn't scenarios be balacned against gold-hoarding by setting opponents money as a ratio to the player's money? Most scenarios already seem to have different enemy money for the different difficulty levels, if they also changed the enemy funds based on the player's funds those players who are good...

Re: wesnoth map

Ah well y'see I wasn't thinking in terms of it finishing at all. In our paper-and-pencil RPG campaigns we never finish, even during years of hiatus the clock keeps on ticking along on the RPG world racking up 'backtime' so if/when ever we play some more we have an incentive to eat up all that time s...

Re: Campaign: The Life of a Mage

:) Cruel... where else would a child head if told to explore? :) Onward to (end of) 00_2_Adventure: "Good! Who knows what will have happened to our village by now. We must make hast!" s/hast!/haste/ ? It is really fun running around with these little chaps instead of charging hughmongus ho...

Re: How to lead an unit on a specific hex (x,y)?

Hmm. Maybe you need an enemy unit on the ship, so you can then use the target tag to bias the nagas' AI to very much want to attack/kill that unit? (Maybe a dummy unit even if you don't want any actual units on the ship?) Or if the ship is itself a unit, then use the target tag to bias them toward a...

Re: New Elvish(Kalenz) Campaign

But if speaker only accepts unit or narrator, how can I get Olurf to speak then?
Try description=Olurf (or = whatever the unit's ID is, not the user-description, the internal label) instead of speaker= .

Re: Tying it all together

Thanks for the feedback! When I mentioned very little evidence I was thinking specifically of the name of the world in the language used in Wesnoth, because scholars on D'ydii would find it a weird exception to what they thought they'd discovered about D'ydii languages, to wit that in all languages ...

Re: Level 0s for every Level 1 - Humans

Wow! Its amazing how that stuff actually works, eh? SO few images to make such a nifty movie? As I understand it though we also need the 'all fall down' part, sigh, sadness. Oh well at least its not Bambi that has to die in this case. :) Its amazing what visual arts can do, I'm so jealous. (My dad i...

Re: wesnoth map

"Of course, it's not very balanced, but it looks nice and I even coded in starting units, factions, etc. It uses a whopping nine players. I tried to have a game once on the multiplayer server, but it was taking way too long and everyone quit. :lol2:" Personally taking way too long doesn't ...

Re: Campaign: The Life of a Mage

Li'sar is in this campaign?!?! Aiiiee, you really know how to make a campaign a 'must read', eh? I thought that was my own uniquely cunning marketing ploy! ;) :) Okay already, I'll check it out! :) :P (Thats not meant to be a razz, dunno where PHPbb gets that idea, its actually tongue hanging out in...

Re: How to lead an unit on a specific hex (x,y)?

Have a look at 'team'. If the two 'side's of nagas are on the same 'team' they should not fight each other, so if they are fighting it might be that you did not set their 'team' to be both the same. I am new to WML myself, but it looks to me like the code for moving, given earlier in this thread, se...

Re: It didn't let me recall units in the next campaign :(

Of course you could write additional scenarios yourself to extend the campaign, which might be appreciated by the next person who finds themself at the point you were at when you chose to do that... :) If that happens enough that campaigns get 'too long' for 'typical players' maybe someone will get ...

Re: wesnoth map

The detail-maps system might help that though, because what looks on the main map as nothing but one kind of terrain type could have some interesting tactical formations of other terrains too small to show up on the main map. Eventually, if it is not actually desired that the factions typically end ...

Re: wesnoth map

I somehow came across a couple of threads in which a main map that your map might be great for depicted army movements but in which actual battle took place by generating a detail map of the hex the attacker is moving into. That material might help mollify those who object to a single figure occupyi...
