Re: Corvvs' Thread of Ill-Fated Portraits: Merman Hunter

Good call on the perspective - I think I fixed that. It was ridiculously hard, but very necessary, so thanks. I didn't change any proportions as the angles are now so different I doubt it's noticeable.

Re: Corvvs' Thread of Ill-Fated Portraits: Merman Hunter

Thanks all, esp. kitty for the paintover. Here's what I have so far. He has one armored shoulder, and a belt that will hold a diving knife (that's its only purpose, as he has neither shirt or pants). The quiver has a piece of cloth tightened around the spears to hold them in place. IIRC some ancient...

Re: Eric the pixel bee

Hmm. Orbivm's Wild Era has swarm unit called "Gobblers" for lack of a better name, if anyone's interested. The era was jointly created by turin and myself. [/advertising] How about whole swarms of insects? A hive full of wasps could probably take down a trained soldier. Maybe even a skelet...

Re: Corvvs' Thread of Ill-Fated Portraits: Merman Hunter

I took a photo of myself for my ref, so some extrapolation with regard to musculature was necessary... but I _think_ I finally got the anatomy right (I've spent quite a few hours on it). I used two photos actually - one for the body and one for the face, so the neck area and thereabouts may have som...

Re: Favorite freeware game

Sauerbraten has bad graphics but a nice sort of industrial aesthetic. Nexuiz has very pretty graphics, especially laser effects and explosions. My favorite game? Probably was Urban Terror until I stopped playing about a month ago. The community's about one step above 4chan in sordidness, and the gam...

Strange. That's what it's good for - striking fear into crowds. But I suppose the event admins do have privileges too.

Re: thespaceinvader's portraits - current, Dwarves

I really can't speak about the lion part, but I do know a bit about birds, and the only way to a) make it not look like a chicken, and b) still have wings that obey the laws of physics, then I think this is the only way to do it. The issue is that the wings of real birds of prey, and most birds with...

Re: Corvvs' Thread of Ill-Fated Portraits: Merman Hunter

Here we go. I have little faith in my ability to draw humans (or merhumans, by extension), so this was a painful process... anyway, I hope it will be usable. I went for a very Greco-Roman style with the beard and nose... I might do a bit more costume stuff in that direction. The beard has bits of se...
