Re: Luck in Wesnoth: Rationale

Good point, but it only applies to the shaman and pillager, the others have magical attacks or a significant amount of strikes already (dwarves in mountains usually don't dodge). I am not saying it is "that simple" I admitted there will be some balance changes to be worked out. Those can be dealt wi...

Re: Luck in Wesnoth: Rationale

F50: I'm not sure what it is you're trying to accomplish exactly. How do you want to change the attack calculations? not. It shouldn't require recompiling either: I think I want to change this (and do a similar thing to every other unit): #textdomain wesnoth-units [unit] id=Troll Whelp name= _ "Tro...

I didn't know whether "clear the caves" mean "defeat all enemy leaders" or "destroy all enemy units" (4) How clear and interesting did you find the dialog and storyline of the scen...

Re: Luck in Wesnoth: Rationale

I had hoped that my assertion that this was not a suggestion for base wesnoth yet would calm the storm. I was wrong. Seriously, what's with all the deterministic-o-phobes? I wish I could understand the psychology behind that. I would like to create an era to test this. Can someone provide a list of ...

bad. bad idea. you often have 4.5% CTBK, and its still a good move.

The first breaks down as such... 0 damage: 25% 9 damage: 50% 18 damage: 25% The second breaks down as such... 0 damage: 50% 18 damage: 50% See, it's more polarizing. For another example, check out how a grunt fights as opposed to a regular fighter. Which is more polarizing? Do you view polarizing a...

Re: Luck in Wesnoth: Rationale

If multiplying everything by 2 doesn't make a difference to balance, and is a solely positive change, why stop there? Why not multiply everything by a thousand? Then, there will be almost no luck at all. Combat results will be almost deterministic. Luck will be abolished. You are correct that the i...

Re: Balance Issues

This I agree with. I see that larger maps favor drakes because they are the most mobile race. Its not so much that, just that the reverse is true (for you logic fans out there, I'm having a mind fart, what is this called? Contradiction? I don't think so, its the reverse on both sides...I forget, lo...

If I need high movement, I get footpads, even if I'm playing blitz. The possible exception is drakes (can't see water without gryphon).

Re: Luck in Wesnoth: Rationale

I wouldn't mind altering the RNG, but its not a terrible issue for me. I don't think it would have that huge effect if the RNG was altered in the right way. Consider multiplying all unit's hp and number of strikes by 2. Any effect other than reducing luck would be psychological. A simple example: T...
