New LoM!

Sorry Tyler, I must have misread your post completely. I thought you were saying that you wanted us to mainline this tune regardless of its flaws. I like the tune, but no, I don't think it should be mainlined until he comes back and posts an updated version and fixes the sound issues. Maybe it's ti...

Re: Full Length Epic Northerners Battle Theme

There's virtually no way to make it sound good. While you CAN expand it, we don't know the settings he used, even then, the mp3 format is too choppy. There's no way to get the wave forms back in an mp3. I don't know exactly how much say I have around here, probably not much, but I would vote against...

Re: Full Length Epic Northerners Battle Theme

Well, what happened to 13 colors? Did he disappear? Maybe he hasn't read the updates and is still working on a newer version. I like the current northerners too though, this one couldn't be "added" on?

Re: Wesnoth's music's composers

Download VLC and when you open an .ogg file from Wesnoth, click on Window ->Media Information and it will bring up all of the information that is encoded in each file.

Re: Sad

I wrote it with the word "Sad" in mind, so sad.ogg works for me :D

Re: Full Length Epic Northerners Battle Theme

I think it's a good composition. But it sounds to me like there's a load of compression, and you converted it to a very low quality .mp3 See if you can convert it to a higher quality, it sounds too "jumpy" right now. I don't know if you knew what goes on when you make a .wav into an .mp3, but it's v...

Re: Sad

It's on the way, I had to change a couple things in the 'Final Version' :D

I guess I'll send the .wav to West, and he'll do his encoding magic on it?

Re: Silvan Sanctuary (possible replacement for "Elf land")

Sometimes I worry that my progressions sound too contrived, like I'm jumping between keys and modes just for the heck of it Contrived? Not at all! In fact, that's what makes your music unique. I distinctly remember last year when I was living in New York, I had all the Wesnoth music on my iPod, and...

Re: Silvan Sanctuary (possible replacement for "Elf land")

What happened to the first note/chord? It sounded abrupt, like it was a sudden Fade-In. It might have just been the mp3 though. You definitely know how to color the sound with your chords and modulations, I like this aspect of your music. I never get a "predictable" sense with this at all. The only ...

Re: Sad

Final Version I think this is as close to finished as it's going to get. I can sit and tweak little tiny things, but sometimes, that makes the music worse. So, I think I'm going to throw in the towel on this one and call it a day. I got rid of that horrid parallel octave, and added a couple new ele...

Re: Sad

Thanks West. Quite some nice compliments there. I would actually rather just use the one, and I prefer the 2nd as well. But before any submissions get made, there are a few minor things I want to change, namely a parallel octave that stands out like a sore thumb at :09 and I think the fermata is a T...

Re: Woody's music

Woodmouse, it's god awful. There's no nicer way to put it. Listen to what West said, he's 100% right. I was laughing a big while reading it, but then I listened to the song and now I know why he's saying those things. I'm no LoM here, but I know how things work, and even I occasionally step in even ...

West, you had mentioned the need for sad.ogg to be replaced. Here I have 2 ideas for a possible replacement: Sad Sad 2 The first one brings a familiar melody to the player when their ally is killed, namely "The King is Dead". There's your leitmotif :D The Picardy 3rd ending on the 2nd one to me is k...
